I have made a note at the top of my Welcome page to foreign buyers that if they will email me their order, I will invoice them with PayPal. Is there any way to invoice them with Google without the matrix being worked?
Thanks,
Alice Sisk

Pleased to meet you Alice! I can't answer the shipping question but wanted to pop in and say I LOVE your store! Hope you don't mind if I hang out in there and learn a thing or two... And Ruby Lane is a terrific site, you have a nice store there too.

I do have a little info related to your question. Buyers coming in from Froogle come into your item page on eCRATER, not the item page in your store. The links at the top and bottom are for eCRATER, so it is best not to refer to them in the item description. Also means they won't necessarily ever see the store page with key info. Somewhat confusing for us all but there it is...

Hope that helps, and wishing you all success!

Heather, I don't have any idea how froogle works. But I just did a search on froogle for "cupid", price between $300-1400. It brought up my porcelain cupid.

I see what you mean using froogle. That is the pits. I was under the assumption that buyers would see MY verbage on those four links at the bottom of every item page---home, about, terms, contact.
That means I have to go back and alter about 250 items!
Thanks so much for your input. If you see anything else that I am doing wrong, I am definitely open to constructive criticism.
Alice

Oh, by the way, Heather. Thanks for the compliment. I have put a lot of work into my 2 sites. I hope it all starts paying off more one of these days.
You have some nice things, too. Good luck to you!

Google is only open to USA currently. Although from the looks of things they are planning to open up more in the future.
They claim to Canada residents BUT they must have a USA address - so most can't use it currently.
Google checkout is not really an option for anyone currently outside of the US.
You can invoice in google checkout - it's on the settings page, second from the bottom.
You can adjust an order if you don't have it set to automatically charge.

Per the Google Checkout Merchant forum, GCO support services are only available to U.S. merchants right now. However, GCO is available to quite a number of buyers from non-US countries, here is the current list:

http://checkout.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=48115

I'm assuming this means your non-US buyers will not be able to receive an auto invoice. You can invoice them directly, though. Log into your Google Checkout account, go to "Settings", and look on the left side, the menu allows you to send a direct invoice. Just have to put a prominent notice on your listings, FAQs, and store that they can place their order, but will have to wait for a direct invoice, etc.

I'm also betting this means that international sales, not being "supported" by Google, means sellers are not protected by the Google Seller Protection. Still mulling this one myself, thinking about making all international shipments go out registered mail only. What a pain wrapping the packages with that special tape, though, UGH. Either that or they have to go express, and the customers will have to pay for it. I'm wondering if a Certificate of Mailing would satisfy any shipping requirement of a foreign credit card company/bank. May have to contact MC, Visa, etc. directly to ask those questions! If I find anything out, will post it here!
