Has anybody figured out why there is a lot of hits and views of your products but no sales? What do you think the lurkers are looking for? Price comparison? |

There are all sorts of reasons people look but don't buy. Lurkers is not a very good word. Sounds a bit like stalking.
Lots of hits come from forum readers who see your post and check you out.
Think of all the unemployed, retired, disabled people for whom browsing the internet provides them a connection to the rest of the world.
Hits will come from sellers checking out the going rate for a particular item.
The important thing is to be glad they are there. It means your store is out there and being seen. Most of my sales rarely have had more than half a dozen hits in the month it sells. |

Just think about how many items you view online but never buy. |

I am having the same thing. Lots of views but hardly any purchases. I think it has to do with the time of year and the economy. This month has been really slow. I had more sales in one week in March than I've had this month. April was slow but better than May. |

Don't feel bad, it takes a few looks before someone buys.
I'm averaging 10 - 20 looks in one section of my store this month. Except ONE item has 108 views. So someone may have mentioned it, tweeted it or something. ...And it still hasn't sold!
Periwinkles - it's slow for me too. I was just wining on the MAY sellers thread. |

No, it's the little amate painting (now 113) in the art section. Last month it was a kookie stoneware mug with a man's face in my collectibles category. Go figure.
I have a lot of views on my one piece of depression glass too, but I'm attributing that to general popularity of that type of collectible. |

Aw shoot. I thought it was my tweet this morning. I did think it was a bit more interest then I usually get. Oh well. |

Like MaggietheCatsMeows said, there are lots of reasons to look and not buy. Could be curious eCrater store owners, your competition checking you out, would-be buyers or partners looking for price comparison / more info, your family and friends visiting...
I window shop a lot and don't buy. Bookmark the sites I like and visit sometimes to see what's new. Most of it I could never afford. The rest is completely frivolous. Someday I will win the lottery and buy it all. |

Sadly I say this...don't get too excited by all the hits your items are getting.
Last time I had a store here(couple years ago) on ecrater my hits were through the roof so I inquired as to "WHY?"
BOTS...web robots. Bots are what causes your hit counter to climb as it does.
It's all a part of web spidering. These bots are used to fetch information is all.
On sites such as this it's most likely a bot being used to gather information/pricing of certain items. |

I list twice a week and have always noticed that almost immediately do I start getting hits but I think it might have to do with other sellers on here checking out listings of similar items more than it has to do with people just browsing for something to do or buy. |

Bots are part of it, true. If you set up Google Analytics you can get a better idea of exactly where all your hits are coming from. |

When my items fell out of Google because my former store name was also being used by a porn site (thus filtering MY items even though I had no affiliation with them), my hits plunged to almost nothing. In one month, for instance, I had a particular item with only 11 hits on it. As soon as it was fixed and I'm back into Google, that same item now has 45 hits on it so far this month. My sales are also back again and I'm very pleased! So if you're getting the hits - LOTS of hits but no sales, then it might be time to look at prices, shipping costs, etc. |

What? Did you really tweet me or are you kidding?
OK, now I'm up to 158 hits. |

Yes, I did. It's been a while tough. I don't know how useful the older tweets are as far as driving traffic. |
