ok,

looking at packaging...would you rather pay

$3.50 for this

or

$4.00 for this

candles are the same etc...the first one are shrink wrapped. The second ones are in a plastic box type thing.

I'm not sure what you are getting at. Are you asking if we absorb the cost for the packaging products or add it to the item or shipping price?

In your example, the first pic looks like something from a garage sale and the second looks like new merchandise.

There is a lot of packaging that goes into any sold item whether it is wrapping an item in tissue paper before putting it into the box or bag or choosing shredded paper, peanuts or bubble wrap.

I think she is asking if you would pay
$4.00 for this
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m137/chrisasst/votivebox.jpg
or if you think that's to much and would rather pay
$3.50 for this

The 50 is due to the different packaging. Is the packaging important enough for you to pay more for an item to have it packed nicer.

Personally, I would prefer it NOT shrinkwrapped as the candles look squeezed together. Why not just forget about shrinking and put it in cellophane with a twist tie I think would look better.

In that case, the first doesn't look like it would protect the candles. They would get rubbed and roughed up in transit.

I don't know much about shipping candles but if they're that close together what happens if the truck gets really hot?

Actually they are tight together. (I am not the best shrink wrapper, but they are tight and non movable)

Knock on wood, but I have never had a problem shipping candles. In June, july and august I usually only offer priority mail or a disclaimer if they want to ship first class.

IF you decide to shrink wrap -- since the candles are tapered - why not flip one so one has the wick at the top and the other has it at the bottom.

Unless the second one- the plastic type box has built in spacers in it - those candles are going to do alot more moving around then the shrink wrap ones.

103+ high temps and candles in a truck - they will melt, priority mail or first class.
As for the disclaimer - LOL, it won't hold water. It's the sellers responsivlity to make sure the buyer gets the item in the condition in which it was ordered.

I think the plastic boxes would be worth the extra .50 cents. Makes a nicer presentation and a nicer gift. You could shrink wrap the candles that you want to sell cheaper and faster. I like the idea of one up and one down too
I'm always thinking about packaging and the presentation to the customer. I'll keep you in mind for Christmas.

I get cello bags at Dollar store. Sometime clear & some "party prints".
Now for votives I get small ones from walmart in the wedding area.
My pillars fit great in the "party loot bags". Then I ship in bubblewrap.
Now mine are a bit different than yours... Mine are more used as favors & the designs are the more important part. So I don't have to rely on packaging as much.

That reminds me that I need to get new designs up.

well my walmart for some reason does not sell them. I can buy 1000 of them online for about $6, so I will get some and try it.

I don't know, I am kind of leaning towards the box. Looks professional.
