Is this okay to do?

I just ran across an eCrater store that appears to be asking for donations so that they can keep their Christmas lights going for this year. Don't get me wrong I know how tough times are, but is this okay to do? If it is maybe I should be asking for donations to keep my house. I don't mean to be a hard nosed person, but this doesn't sound right to me. Maybe I read it wrong. Anyhow if someone wants to check the store the link is: http://helpsavethelights.ecrater.com/

I asked a while back about non-profits and charitable companies listing here or having a store here and was told they could but could not ask for donations or set up as a charity. They would just have to have a regular store. So no, I don't think it's allowed.

Just my 2 cents.

That's what I thought. As I read the rules you can't have a store that doesn't sell something tangible. Otherwise ecrater would be filled with site asking for money for some cause or another. Just thought I should bring it up.

Sorry, I couldn't remember the name of the post. Also, not sure what you mean no such products. The store is still online and working as for as I can see.

I doubt anyone will go to that much trouble as to go to the contact page or send a donation to a store that is obviously down.

Can't imagine with all the unemployment and extra demand on food banks, toy banks etc this year that people would donate money to helping someone waste a lot of unnecessary electricity.

I'm not a Scrouge and like a few Christmas lights, but these let's-see-who-can-be-the-most-extravagant light shows really turn me off. So you have a 10,000 square foot house on 3 acres. Not every inch has to be lit up.

Sounds to me like that generator did the planet a favor.
