surely I don't put all that code into the Options in my Admin area?? |
No just the UA # in the code. The UA# also appears in your profile next to website address for the profile when you log in to Google Analytics account.
I already wrote this stuff on this topic once. Please go back a few pages and read it. |

I have been reading the thread but it said don't put the code in just the UA#............but it didn't say where one found this UA#.
I see the code and there appears to be something that has in " a number....I take it that is it?????
I was looking for JUST a number because it sounded like it was found by itself as a # somewhere.
We are not all 'up' on computer stuff. Seems its a crime round here to ask something if one doesn't understand something. |

There is a topic on Google Analytics. This one is actually about hit count.
But just to write it one more time:
1. Log in to your account
2. Click on "Options"
3. Click in the small square in front of Enable Google Analytics to see green checkmark
4. Paste UA# only in the longer rectangular box below that. Do not leave out the letter U and A nor the dashes in between.
5. Click on "update" to save.
Give it 10 minutes then check your Google Analytics account. |

I read how to put it in the options.
Its just that its not stated outright that there is part of the code that is the UA #
Because the code doesn't have the # so its easy to miss.
I thought I had done it but obviously not.
Says I've had no hits or page views but on the hits on the product list..... have!!
Guess I'll have to start again or forget it. |

In your Analytics click on "Edit" (at the right side of the profile in the table)
Does it say Receiving Data in front of "Check Status" (right above the table on that page)?
By the way # means number. You are supposed to put the small piece of writing with the letter U and A and the mix of numbers that are specific to your account and two dashes. This is a dash -
Did you do that correctly? Or did you type the letters UA followed by the number symbol #. If you did the later of course your integration with Google Analytics won't work. |

In my ecrater/Options I have
Google Analyitics and in the box I have UA-(then 8 numbers)-1
Is that what I should have there?
No#symbol?
No in the Analytics in the Edit it says Tracking Unknown where it says Check status.
If I go to the Check Status it says....
(And I've double checked that the UA is correct)
Waiting for Data
Analytics has been successfully installed and data is being gathered now.
But its all still showing nothing on the report part. |

Yes that is exactly as it should be.
No, there should not be any # symbol in there at all. As I said I type that as a shorthand to typing number. I guess it serves me right for taking a shortcut once in a while.

Try this: go to your Analytics account click on "edit" then on "Check Status" don't touch anything on the page, just scroll down and click on "save and finish" button. Then about 10 minutes later go back to analytics and see if there is a change in the status from "Tracking Unknown"
When you entered the UA number you did not make a typo or leave out a number or dash or put any extra spaces at the beginning or end. Right? (just checking)
If what I mentioned won't work the next thing to check is how you typed in the website url. |

You typed your store homepage url wrong. The correct form has no www in it. It works other places when you type it with the www, but that is not the correct way. That is what is tripping Google Analytics in figuring out what location they are supposed to be looking. You need to edit that and correct it.
To be clear this is your store homepage url: http://tropikalartz.ecrater.com
not http://www.tropikalartz.ecrater.com
Oh and don't expect to see any reports until after 24 hours has passed. They need to have the data for the day before they can post info from it. |

Do this:
1. Open Analytics account
2. Click on "edit" on the right side of the table on the same row as your eCrater profile.
3. Click on the "edit" right below the Check Status link. That allows you to edit profile info
4. you can leave the profile name as you like
5. you change whatever it is in the box next to "Website URL:" to the following: tropikalartz.ecrater.com
6. go down the page and click on "save changes button" |

There is no www in the URL.
The profile name is just a name so you can name it tomato for all it cares. The website url needs to be typed in correctly, which does not have the www in it. |

The www should be okay though. For example, http://www.acread.ecrater.com still goes where it's supposed to go. |
