I would like to use the weight dependable option to calculate shipping, is there a way to add the cost of packing materials? If not, will I have to fill out the dreaded matrix?
Thanks! |

You would have to fill out the matrix anyways
unless you want zero charged for shipping everytime the USPS site don't reply fast enough.
You want a handling fee you'll have to add that into the price of the item
USPS calculator caluclates postage cost only. |

You can increase the weights of the items slightly for it to charge a little more. Now all that different than adding it to the price of the item.
If you get large number of items in an order, these additional amounts are bound to become significant. Then you'll have to issue a partial refund.
But in general there is no way to add handling charges (which needs to be put in the system. Someone should post it as a suggestion in Suggestions). |

Did you try looking at the topic in FAQ and Solutions section of the forum? The one titled Shipping Matrix and More? |

I am not sure if this help Lisa, but most of my items are under a pound and I just entered weight as ounces and did weight dependable. Weight scales are set to small. My prices start at $2 for 1 ounce and then go up at the rate of about $.25 -$.50 depending on the increases. I have not figured out what would happen if I go over a pound yet. I hope that helps a little.
If the enable USPS calculated is turned on for those that use it, does it show as calculated for the item shipping or is there an amount that shows. I hate seeing calculated, as I think it drives people away. |

For you to have it calculate above a pound that is over 16 you need to fill the box for 16+. You need to enter what you would need for each additional 2 pounds (since you use them as 2 ounces you need to type in there how much additional shipping each 2 ounce over the 16 ounces would cost.)
I think you would be better off converting your weights to pounds and turning on the USPS calculated shipping, even if it doesn't display the shipping costs you are more likely to get accurate results. And won't have to edit shipping matrix when they change rates. Plus you can offer expedited shipping. |
