I got a message to fix the "unknown "google product category' value (70 items) in Google Feed. What is this and how do I fix it?
Also, how do I delete an order that has been paid for, but I refunded in full?
Thanks,
Sharon |

First question, I can't help.
Second question, you can't delete a paid order even if you refunded it. |

I received the same message for 4 items. They are 4 old popular mech magazines that I have listed under the Books and Magazines-the sub category is Magazines. Google does not give much else for information, just the error message Unknown 'google product category' value |

Same message for one magazine when several were listed. I think it's probably a Google glitch that will correct itself with the next feed. Until the next feed I'm not doing anything. |

Google's taxonomy has changed again. Magazines should now be Media >> Magazines & Newspapers. From what I can tell, it didn't used to fall under Media.
This is one of the drawbacks of ecrater managing the feed. The product category attribute comes from ecrater and even if we put in the correct one, ecrater will override it.
So until they change to comply with Google, this error will keep happening. |

The media subcategories at that time were:
Books > (see sub-category list)
DVDs & Videos > (see sub-category list)
Magazines & Newspapers
Music > (see sub-category list)
Product Manuals > (see sub-category list)
Sheet Music
I still think it is a glitch that will correct itself. |

That is really interesting as the changes I read were made in September 2011 along with the other Google feed changes. At least that us what Googles website says.
"Note: The taxonomy is updated every 3 months. However, you can submit taxonomy values in the 'google product category' attribute from previously published taxonomy versions, back to August 2011. If you use taxonomy values from a version older than August 2011, you need to update them. " |

Thanks to you both for the input, at least now i know why it gave this error code. I guess there is not much I can do at the moment to change the category to media, hopefully ecrater will give us a new category to use |

I just got the error on my latest feed (4-26), as well. Apparently, 267 products are affected, but all 726 items were processed. The 2 examples of problems given are both vintage handbags. A quick glance thru the message board for Google Merchant Ctr suggests that there have been problems with Google product category value since at least Feb 2012. |

This message is an error that we can review and this is very helpful feedback to the eCRATER staff. The eCRATER categories are mapped to the Google product category that corresponds with the taxonomy from Google and the information helps us verify and correct any unmatched categories.
If the message "unknown google product category' still appears after the next feed, or in future feeds please send us an email to questions@ecrater.com and report this. Please be sure to include the store name and the date of the feed.
Thanks,
em |

I posted this on another thread, but I was given this link so thought I would post here as well. I got a message that 426 of my items were rejected, and they all appear to be magazines, some of which have been in my store for a year or more. |

Many of the products in my store that were rejected are also magazines. As eCrater has said: it's an error. |

Glad to know it is an error as I have a stack of magazines that I want to list, but will wait until the dust is settled on this glitch. No sense making the problem worse. |
