I'm not sure if the "guest" option or service is still available. |

This is direct from the Paypal site:
With PayPal Account Optional turned on, buyers can pay by debit card or credit card without signing up for PayPal accounts.
"Account Optional" is the default setting, so yes, it looks like a buyer can use a debit or credit card without signing up for a Paypal account. |

thanks to the both of you for your responses. I thought one could buy without having a PayPal account but a customer isn't able to use a debit card without PayPal.
I went in and looked at my settings per the email and everything is set as it should be.
Now I wonder what the issue might be for the buyer.
Thanks. |

Yeah, they can't pay directly with debit cards as ecrater is not set up to take direct payments. They have to use a payment service such as Paypal or Google Checkout. With paypal though, they don't have to create an account to make a payment but with Google, they do have to create an account. |

I think there are some debit cards that can't be used on line...not really sure but I think I heard that somewhere. Not bank ones, but some of the other ones where you just load money on. |

Depends on the fine print of the use on the card
Many can not be used for Internet sales
If they are in doubt, tell them to call their bank |

As far I saw only the debit cards with Master or Visa logo work to make Internet sales.

Agree even with Marster or Visa logo some banks play the a smart game hidden stuff in the fine print. |

Not ALL of them
It depends on the card, bank issuing, and the terms of use |
