Hello ecrater community and thank you in advance for your efforts. Can folks help me understand how this listing (http://www.ecrater.com/p/14301643/lot-of-5-disposable-lighters-we-have?gps=1) is one of the first to show in google shopping when searching for disposable lighters starting from lowest price. useless and unfriendly to humans, if my listings are not shown at all and this shows rite away than what is the point? is it even good to make it in google results as it seems to be bad from a buyers perspective.
its description and title are as follow:

LOT OF 5 DISPOSABLE LIGHTERS We Have Nice Lighters LOOK

<div style="text-align:center"><img src="http://ti2.auctiva.com/sw/java.gif" border="0"><br><table align="center"><tr><td><a style="text-decoration:none" href="http://store.auctiva.com/dollarium"><img src="http://ti2.auctiva.com/sw/browse2.gif" border="0"></a></td><td height="21px" valign="middle" align="center"><font face="arial" size="2"><b><a href="http://store.auctiva.com/dollarium">dollarium</a> Store</b></font></td></tr></table></div> <img src="http://ti2.auctiva.com/web/aswCredit.gif" border="0"><br><a href="http://www.auctiva.com/?how=scLnk0" target="_blank"><img src="http://ti2.auctiva.com/images/sc1line0.gif" border="0"></a> LOT OF 5 DISPOSABLE LIGHTERS We Have Nice Lighters LOOK <div style="text-align:center"><a style="text-decoration:none" href="http://mostpopular.sellathon.com/?id=AC1046936"><img src="http://www.sellathon.com/Resources/Images/countercredit.gif" border="0"></a></div>On Aug-01-11 at 05:19:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Sellers: Get your own map today. Looks like an ecrater seller that doesn't understand that you can't use html in their listings. Some of them are in goobledygook and some in somewhat readable English. They also seem to be selling on many sites, thus how many exact results for that one search string.

What does it mean to you? Not a single thing. Have you signed up for the Goodle Adsense PLA program so your items will show in shopping? I don't know what you sell or how you have done your listings or how you promote your store, that is what makes a difference. I know if I was looking for disposable lighters and came upon that listing, I would back up and go elsewhere and I'm sure that many do. What you want is to have your store set up so that no one back pedals out of it but sticks around and buys something.

Hate to mention this, I'm not sure how long you have been selling here, but you can't list the same thing over and over with the only difference being quantity. You might want to clarify this with the ecrater team before you find yourself suspended.

That looks like it was imported from eBay, and never cleaned up. If you look in their categories, the only choice you get is "my ebay", which is the category created when you first import stuff from eBay.

Do you understand that Google Shopping isn't free anymore? Do you understand that position from some categories is now based on how much do you spend in Google? Are you paying Google?

The item is part of the imported eBay items.

lifebalance, you are selling the same item. As far I saw eCrater will not suspend someone because forget the HTML in an eBay import, but can suspend someone for posting the same item.

One comment in general. If you can to a marketplace just to focus and spend time in the "competition". You are wrong.

useful info from much more experienced e-sellers than myself and it is appreciated. I have just begun exploring ways of selling (mostly lighters but more to come) other than ebay and there is much to learn. I did read the policy that has to do with not listing items repeatedly, I have actually communicated with ecrater about possible suspension after all my listings had been posted and viewable. As a buyer, if you want a certain kind of thing and a store only has available 1 quantity at 1 price than how useful is that for you? what if you need 1 whole loaf of bread? what if you only want a slice? what if you cant afford 10 loafs? it seems that avoiding these kinds of limitations is one point of shopping on the internet so I am not worried Very Happy

help me if im wrong but probably the main point of shopping on the internet is to get the best deal. if you are trying to sell something on the internet with success than you would want to try and offer the best deal or match it, this is based on the deals that are available (the competition). if understanding the competition is wrong than your success is based on hoping that people move away from a better deal and basically want to donate extra money to you.
I never wanted for anyone to not have success or to be suspended and I never expressed anything of the sort, just to understand more about selling and specifically search results.
Thank you all again!

You couldn't be more wrong about why people shop online. Certain types of items, yes price can be the reason, such as technology and new consumer products, but the planet is a huge place. Many people do not have access to great shopping areas. The price of gas and time involved makes shipping to your door worth the money. You can shop 24/7 so busy people can shop from bed, the sofa or their phones.

Here is a very good example of price not being a factor. Moonwishes sells sewing patterns. Her prices may be at the top or near yet she is busy, busy busy. A lot of very successful eCRATER and other online sellers are not price cutting or even price conscious. They ask what they want and assume they will get it. Moon recently wrote about making an error on a price making it $5 more than she meant it to be and it sold. I've often raised the price of an item that wasn't selling and have it sell at the new higher price. It is all relative.

Thank you for your post theartsandlettersofmaggiethecat and reminding me that people will pay for what they want, this will help me relax in pricing other items i intend to sell
you are absolutely rite, what i said surely doesnt apply to all situations, I should have been more clear. I am not saying that artists should try and beat prices of walmart art. You can never know where peoples heads are at, what they are going to buy or why they buy it and there are definitely exotic, unique and rare items whose price could have no limit. However if somebody wants art that you made than competition for that doesnt really exist, yes you can get art and for cheap but the only deal available for what that person wants is the one you offer. If you are the only one who makes what you sell than your deal is the best deal to know about. If a lot of people have the same exact item than it is not so unique or rare. if you were shopping for something and found 2 deals of same brand, model, condition same shipping and everything, would you go for the better deal or the other one?

heck, I even see people pay way more for way less of things like disposable lighters where the quality will not be different, folks will pay 4X more what they could have for an item but this is not often, maybe here and there and probably because they didnt know how to use product search tools. I want people to notice and buy my products up and also be happy with a good deal as opposed to a few realizing that they made a mistake because they couldnt find the good deals.

I believe that I need help with Google Shopping. I did sign up for the program but I'm not paying anything. What should I do to get more business other than more stuff to sale (I'm working on that)? Thanks for your help.
