In general you only collect sales tax for the state that you are in. Since your products are to be handmade by you, I would guess that eliminates drop shipping from other states which would make collecting sales tax even goofier.
To be sure about whether you collect sales tax for just the item or the item plus shipping, you will need to check that out. You should be able to find the rule for collecting sales tax in California at a California state website under sales tax. You may have to search a bit to find the actual name of the page you would be looking for. |

eCrater only lets you charge sales tax on the item cost. If you state revenue department tells you to collect sales tax on the shipping, that is something you have to supply from the sale proceeds. Check with your DoR. |
