If you have to have different shipping rates for weights under one pound, then you have to redefine what the columns in the shipping matrix mean. Past discussions about this can be located by searching for 'synthetic weight'. Basically the column headers no longer mean pounds, but something you decide what they mean. |

You are currently using USPS calculated shipping as your primary shipping method, so I'm assuming your questions related to the matrix are based on trying to set up your backup shipping method. As a backup, it will have to be based on the actual item packed weight (rather than using your own system). The eCrater checkout system is going to go to the USPS Calculated shipping first. If the USPS site is slow (or down) the eCrater checkout system will check to see if you listed a Flat Rate Shipping on the item page. If the Flat Rate Shipping is blank, the system will check the matrix.
What some of us have done is enter a Flat Rate Shipping for items that would ship for less than the 1 pound shipping rate. With this system, your customer would be charged a more correct rate if the USPS system timed out, so that's good. However, you need to set up a system to track those items because they will need to be changed when the USPS changes their system. Just remember, the USPS Calculated system is charging the retail rate for shipping so you would want to match that figure in your Flat Rate Shipping.
If you are using the matrix as a backup for the calculated shipping, there is no way to show shipping rates for under 1 pound in the matrix. |

Decimal points
0.0625 = 1oz // 8oz = 0.50
