|

Hi. I had a store here a few years ago selling different items. I am selling low weight jewelry items and am really puzzled and confused cha as to how to set up the chart. I dont want to use the postal service calculation since some of my items may go in padded mailers and I want to be able to add an additional item charge of say $1.50 or so to the total. Can you please help? I perused old posts on this subject, but I am not finding what I need. It seems it is quite different from 5 years ago. Thanks in advance for your help. |

I think I have figured out something to get me started as it looks like there is not going to be a quick response. I will just leave it as $3.00 shipping with First class mail. I only raised itonce it got over 12 ounces. I will adjust as needed. |

Sheila really knows this stuff.
I am using matrix shipping in 3 of my shops.
They are slightly different from shop to shop based on the items in them.
What I did was:
I assigned each box a number of ounces it represents. (I keep a chart for each of my shops so that when I add things, I have a quick reference)
So.... I have one shop set up as
Box 1 : $3.30 : I use for 1-4 ounce items
Box 2 : $3.60 : I use for 5-8 ounce items
Box 4 : $4.00 : I use for 9-10 ounce items
Box 6 : $4/35 : I use for 11-12 ounce items
Box 8 : $4.80 : I use for 13-14 ounce items
Box 10 : $5.15 : I use for 15-16 ounce items
Box 12 : $7.05 : I use for Flat rate Envelops
Box 14 : $12.00 : I use for larger flat rates
Box 16: $16.00 : for medium flat rate
I use the above for items that would be sold 1 at a time normally. I can always refund any differences.
I also have a another shop set up as
Box 1 : $3.30 : Less than .7 ounce
Box 2 : $3.30 : For 1, 2, 3 ounces
Box 4 : $3.50 : For 4 ounce
Box 6 : $3.75 : For 5, 6, 7 ounces
Box 8 : $4.25 : For 8, 9 ounce
Box 10: $4.75 : for 10, 11 ounce
Box 12: $5.00 : for 12, 13 ounce
Box 14: $5.45 :
Box 16: $6.00
This shop has smaller items and would be likely to purchase a couple of items. I figured if they purchased 2 items with box 1: would equal Box 2 and the price would be the same because of the weight.
So far, this has worked for me. I will probably look at it in the future. |

You are welcome.
I went to your shop and saw your logo with jewelry.
You could use the calculated shipping.
Use the link above about the shipping matrix and scroll down.
There is a chart of how to enter the weights using zero.fraction number.
I had played with this for my shops.
Still debating with myself. |

Several of us with similar weight items use the matrix as, number of items being shipped. It has worked very nice for me since Moonwishes explained it so well. |

I have mine set up much like the first example and in the 10+ years I have been here, I have had no problems with it, although my top price is for a flat rate envelope. If someone buys multiple items from me, I figure they deserve a price break. All my multi-item orders come to the right price and it is so easy to change prices if need to when postage goes up. I think I have only had to change prices 3-4 times.
Make sure that your shipping price includes the postage, ALL packaging material, and I also add the PP/Stripe fee into this price as well. One of the reasons that I like big multi item orders is not having to pay that 30 service charge for each item sold. |
