Quote: | In light of these challenges, we’re advancing our plans to make it free for merchants to sell on Google. Beginning next week, search results on the Google Shopping tab will consist primarily of free listings, helping merchants better connect with consumers, regardless of whether they advertise on Google. With hundreds of millions of shopping searches on Google each day, we know that many retailers have the items people need in stock and ready to ship, but are less discoverable online. |
So, how does this affect our feed(s) to Google Shopping ? Are the fees going all be MarketPlace 2.9% (because no more bidding involved) ?
Can anyone help clarify this. |

Other sites I have been a seller on in past years, sent listings to Google Shopping for free, and then later discontinued the free method and went to pay to play (promoted listings) |

Before Google went pay to play, I did quite well with sales from Google shopping. Although I pay 5.9% commission and have marked all my items down to fire sale prices, I never have Google sales any more. I've always figured we are fed to Google on a revolving basis. |

We have been fed, that is not the issue. Until recently, possibly still applies in some way, various people selling the same product would be bidding against one another for ad imprints. Those who won the auction got shown, and the others did not.
This is different from Google organic, where they spider crawl all web sites. |

It looks like a requirement. I believe not everybody in eCrater has or like PayPal. |
