I offer a catalog that we provide on my store. The catalog is free yet I could not list it as such. Instead, I listed the catalog as .01 cent.

Is this a suspendable type offense?

Well, if you look at the rules it's questionable but I'm not certain eCrater would care. You might drop them a note, let them know what you're doing, and see what they say. If you do that then I wouldn't worry about it in the meantime.

Actually, now that I think about it the "real prices" thing might be a Google Products requirement, I'm not sure. But go ahead and ask eCrater about it via the Contact form at www.ecrater.com.

it is ABSOLUTELY against ecrater.com rules!
You must list product/service you are selling. You are not selling a catelogue - you really give away.

But that doesn't make sense. We can offer a print catalog as long as we charge a certain amount for it? Why would eCrater care when it's a legitimate item?

Catalogs can be expensive to print and some businesses don't hand them out with every order. So how much should one charge for a catalog for it to be eCrater legal?

Just a thought here...would it be ok for him to state in his about page, or on his home page, that he has a catalog available upon request, instead of listing it as a product? Or maybe that a catalog is provided with each purchase?

Just trying to come up with a workable solution here..

Sure

It's due to Google Product listing rules - you can't include free stuff in a product feed to google.

I wonder at what point is it not considered "free"? 25? 50? 99? $1.00?

Not technically. A penny is legal tender.

I wouldn't try to sell it. If you have a dedicated paragraph in each listing that a complete catalogue is available on request and list the correct email address for it or tell them to use the ask seller a question link, that should work.

It won't work to say click on the contact page because they will get the ecrater contact page if they have come from Google and then it will never reach you.
