I'm still not sure I understand, but apparently you can design attributes such as the ones ecrater suggested to me..the thing is to name that attribute and then describe it, such as material: silver, and then put the proper marks around it, right?
I'm certainly willing to try it, but would like to know if I'm doing it right before I spend a lot of time on it..

For instance, a birthday card might be....correct me if I'm wrong:
[!occasion: birthday!]
[!age: juvenile!]
[!character: Simpsons!]

Is that kind of the idea, or does it have to be selected from a specific list of attributes Google has set up?

From the examples provided above, the attributes are all standardised attributes that can be found on the list provided by google base. So far, nothing has been say about customised attributes that we create ourselves.

If the standardised attributes list is sufficient for you, the format is quite straight forward as [!atttribute:value!].

Thanks to eCrater for letting us know about this and helping us figure it out! What a great place eCrater is!

I do have a ?

Some of my items are more than one color, so would I be allowed to list 2 seperate color attributes
[!color:red!]
[!color:white!]
or should I put one color attribute with both colors as the value?

These are the ones I have selected for some of my handmade items:

[!age_range:2-5!]
[!color:red!]
[!department:children's!]
[!feature:machine washable!]
[!made_in:US!]
[!material:cotton!]
[!occasion:Christmas!]
[!size:medium!]
[!style:casual!]
[!artist:1733 Shoppe!]

What do you think?

Thanks again and have a great day!!

Oh, I mean what would the format be like for created attributes not available on the list.

For instance, if I am creating a customised attribute named promotion_offer, such as one that I can create for my bulk upload to Google Base. Example: For my bulk upload file, I would input the attribute as c:promotion_offer:boolean (attribute named as promotion_offer taking value as yes/no or true/false).

In such cases, how should we key that in our ecrater description list?
Unlike standardised attributes where the attribute name and value are already predefine by google base, customised attributes might not be recognised by google base if inputted simply in [!attribute:value!] format.

I don't think you can create your own attr-name
that's why there is a list of the ones ecrater.com uses.
As stated not all Google attributes are accepted in ecrater.com either so I wouldn't think that you could make up your own. I could be wrong though.

eCRATER does not support custom Google Base attributes at this time. If you have suggestion about a custom attribute you can send it to us but we do not guarantee that the attribute will be added.

A question here. How about creating custom attributes? Would Google be able to pick it up as well? If so, what is the input format for custom attributes then?

There are no such attributes like "age" and "character"

The correct syntax will be:

[!occasion: birthday!]
[!age_range: 3-10!]

You can also add:

[!department:cards!]
[!genre:Movie Characters!]
[!made_in:US!]
[!upc:!] if you know the upc
[!publisher:!] if you know which company published the card
[!width:!]
[!height:!]
[!year:!]

In this case eCRATER will pick up only the first attribute [!color:red!]. I am not sure if Google Base allows the following format:

[!color:red,white!]

I will recommend to email them and ask if you can specify several values separated by "," in the color attribute.

Very Good! You added 10 valuable attributes that will definitely improve your exposure in Google Products.

Alright now, question: would like to know if you can only put in single file like this:

[!title:butterick #3709 sewing pattern uncut!]
[!year:1994!]
[!condition:vintage!]
[!quanity:1!]

title, condition and quantity will be ignored by eCRATER since it posts these automatically. You don't have to list them in your description. "year" is a valid attribute and will be included in the feed.

Or if you can make it out to a non-broken line like this at the bottom of the page.:

Yes you can specify all attributes on one line if you prefer so.

Probably you may use:

[!artist:!]
[!color:!]
[!department:!]
[!feature: decoration!] - specify the feature of the product
[!height:!]
[!length:!]
[!made_in:US!]
[!material:!]
[!year:!]

title, condition and quantity are attributes, as I have seen it in the google page you gave earlier. So makes this very hard to understand what is and isn't needed by eCrater.

These are submitted automatically. When you add a product you specify: Product name (it goes to the title attribute), condition (it goes to the condition attribute), Qty (it goes to the quantity attribute).

If you click on the the "Promote My Store" link you will see a list of all supported attributes that you can choose from to improve your Google placement.

Hi!

I'm trying really hard to understand this. Would this be something I would put in for china and dinnerware?

[!brand:noritake!]
[!department:dinnerware!]
[!material:china!]
[feature:dinner plate!]

Ok, don't anyone get upset, what I'm saying is very much tongue in cheek! I've been experimenting with this and have to say that it's a real challenge.
I'm trying to use as many attributes as possible, but fitting a collectible into them is not easy! For instance, take avintage popup book. Is popup the format, the style, or the genre? Is Warner Bros the author of a Wylie Coyote book, or is the publishing company? Is the genre collectible or juvenile?
How about scrapbook stickers? Is stickers considered the format, the style, or the genre? If they're new baby stickers, would you put baby for the style or the genre..they're certainly not something you'd give to a baby?
See what I mean-doing this has been an exercise in creative categorizing!
