My granny never made me a sock monkey but if she had I know my little sister would have stolen it too...she stole everything else! |

I wanted a sock monkey sooo bad when I was a kid, but my mom didn't like them.
So I have made sock monkeys for my sons, and for both grands-each dressed appropriately-a gi joe monkey in a fleece camouflage jacket with a tiny dog tag, a cowboy, a ballerina in a tutu, etc. And I still have the one I made for myself tucked away.... |

I have one that my daughter gave me a few years ago. I am very proud of it and it was sweet of her to give it. |

I had a sock monkey as a very small child. I'm sure I wore it out.
I made one a few years ago for my grandchildren. They drag it around by the leg just like I did.
Warmest Regards,
Donna |

Well the sock monkey slippers were a huge hit! Most are sold out. I have very few of the adult 9/10, few of the child sizes 4-7 and only 1 pair of the 8/9
I still have sock monkeys purses, keychains and backpacks for those looking for a trendy gift for the little ones.

Hi!
That's awesome news about the success of your sock monkeys! They are very cool!
I don't have a sock monkey story. Never had a sock monkey. Such a deprived childhood huh? I met an older lady at one of the craft shows I was in last year and she had a basket filled with sock monkeys. They went over like gangbusters! It was incredible how many people were automatically drawn to the basket. Many people were buying more than 1 because they remembered having them as children and they wanted to get something for a special child in their lives and give them the same kind of memory. I think those gifts are priceless! She didn't sell many at the craft shows this year but she has them in a consignment store where I also have some of our stuff and they sell very well there for her. It all depends on the mood of the day I guess!
Take care

Sock Monkeys are going to be very popular again, due to the Childs Movie with the Sock Monkey in it. I listed a sock monkey craft book and it sold immediately. I got many hits on it even after I put the Sold sign up. I have a whole sack of sock monkeys I made several years back for a craft show and was going to list them on the internet for sale. As soon as my daughter seen them she begged me not to sell them. She wants to finish all them up, dress them and give them to the grandkids. So I stuck them back in the closet. My 37 year old son still has his sock monkey my mother give him when he was about 3 years old. |
