Just added my stores.
It was a lot easier than I thought.

They sure don't make that UA-# easy to find! lol. I had to find it in the java script code. No where else did I see the whole number anywhere. |

mine was in the HTML that pops up when you sign up..
now the whole thing would highlight... so I copied the whole thing... pasted into notepad THEN was able to copy just my ID number & paste into the ecrater spot. Take about 24 hrs... so I'll see how it works.
Was curious about just how my customers were finding me |

I think it's just the greatest thing since sliced bread! It's fascinating-I had someone from Latvia and someone from Croatia look at my store.
However, I would like to take my IP address out of the report. When I went to see how you do it, my brain went numb and everything got all fuzzy when I started to read the directions. Is it really a simple thing to do if someone could explain it in VERY basic, simple instructions?
Thanks - Susan |

Yeah, it seems that making Analytics available to sites like eCrater was an afterthought and they haven't yet modified their presentation so that they also show only the UA code. I had the same problem! |

I agree. I tried to copy and paste just the UA-# and it wouldn't let me. So like the above poster, I just copied it down. My other stores code was just sequential numbers so that made it easier. |

OMG!!! I have been all over that google analytics set up thing and I cannot find that number anywhere! Why do I get dumber instead of smarter? Geez! Help me please...one very small baby step at a time to find that number. Thanks!

It's a PITA to find that number so here are the steps --
go to http://www.google.com/analytics/
log in
You need to see the coding that you would paste on a webpage BUT you only need the number that looks like UA-1234567-1
it's within that code --- which again I can't find how to find that code. |

Thanks BT!
I have had to write to them because I don't think my account set up properly. When you sign in do you see a 'getting started screen' that advertises joining and a picture of a dashboard and lots of fancy coloured charts to the right? That's all I see. I have been all over their help but I don't have any of the selections they say to use. I have only the sign out, home and contact us as options across the top. I'll sit tight and see what answer I get.

Lynna - that's the type of screen I got. Actually I found it was easier to go thru the ecrater link to set it all up - Dawn |

Thanks Chisum! Man I was getting so frustrated I was almost spitting nails!
I finally figured out that I didn't finish the set up because I didn't click on the sign up button on the left of the screen! Duh! Guess I figured I was done when I did the first sign up for the account. It's the little stuff you know...always the little stuff! I'm gathering data now though. Or rather I will be when some new hits come through.
Thanks again for helping me out!

Another way to get to the UA #
1. Sign in to Analytics
2. Top left side click link "analytic settings"
3. Click link "edit analytics account"
On the page you'll see your UA#

It's a google product - just like their free spreadsheets, documents, and everything else they have for free.
What does anyone have to gain here by trying to "sneek" something in? |
