I have my store just about how I want it. Before I fill it with more items, I'd really appreciate any suggestions anyone may have for me.

Thank you in advance.

As I suggested before make sure to fill out all the "text" sections of your store (click on "Edit Texts" on your admin to find those). Start with "Terms and Conditions" and do it soon. You could tell your customers what your shipping method is, how much on average they would need to wait to receive their package (this is critical, some customers have no clue how long it takes. Their expectations could be unrealistically short, ending up with dissatisfaction of your service), what your return policy is, where you ship to, whether or not you combine shipping, etc. Since you are not accepting any electronic payment methods (which in my personal opinion would make it very hard to do business online.), make sure to state in your terms that you do not ship the order until payment is deposited into your account (which is very curicial thing to do to fend off check and money order scammers).

Other than the "terms" page fill all the text, because all those pages have a potential to come up is search engine results. So if you fill them with stuff relating to your store and products, you'll be more likely to divert traffic to your site. So don't leave them empty.

In your descriptions I saw that you typed "no paypal". If you don't have it it's fine, but don't emphasize that you don't have it. Just looks confusing. Not every online buyer uses PayPal and is looking for it. And it is plainly visible that your store does not accept PayPal, it is not among the Payment Methods at the top of each item page. Same thing with the shipping cost. You do not need to have it in the description. It is redundant. Please click on "Preview" in your admin page. Go to one of your product pages there and look carefully what info appears and what doesn't.

Make sure to increase the description of your items. Try to do it in more detail. Use a lot of words that would be used by potential customers in searches to find your products. For example if the product you are selling is a book, make sure to type as many words that relate like: novel, fiction, book, literature, genre, edition, publication, etc. Put these into a paragraph of writing if you can.

If you figured out the attributes add them now. When you are posting a similar item you can use the "copy" button and the attributes you entered will be copied with everything else into the new listing. All you would need to do is change the "Attribute Values" to fit to the new product. This would save you time.

Wow, thanks ACRead, I'm printing your post out, lots to do.

I have to go ship now but will make changes as per your suggestions when I return.

BTW, how do I make changes to my featured categories photos? I tried clicking on the button and choosing cancel, but it stays. I'd like to replace them once in awhile.

1.go to "Categories" click on the edit button (yellow pencil one) next to the category whose pic you are going to change
2. below the picture there is a small box, click on it and then click on "update" button to delete the image
3. then upload new image the way you did the first time

I thought your home page was very attractive. I found one typo on the featured category for transportation. The system either cut off the end of you N or you typed R.

You have a book by Louisa May Alcott "Jack and Jill". LMA died in 1888 so either there is another LMA or the book was written long before your copy was printed. Do you know anything more.

Books are continually reprinted. Is that your confusion?

BTW, when something cuts off, you can click on it and see the rest of the print.

Re the book. I read your description as thinking it had been written close to the time of the signature.

thelivesandlovesofmaggiethecat: ok, sorry, I see what you mean now. There are many editions of old books. This one is from the 30s, I also have this same book issued in 1956.

I suppose they're all collectible, some more than others.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my store. I appreciate it.
