Could somebody please treat me like a three year old and explain the new Google Attribute Screen when listing?
We have always been very happy with how quickly our listings index on Google and have never used Attributes before.
I have read what I can find and have not a clue
Thanks in Advance
Gary

Hi Gary, please first take a look at the following threads. Then if there are things you do not understand ask questions.

http://www.ecrater.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=5912&highlight=google+attributes (at the end of this one we are talking about the new feature that got recently added. The "G" button. There is an example I think I put there on page 9)

Attribute name..............Attribute value
brand...........................MaxEquations
artist............................MaxEquations (if these are your designs)
product_type.................Clothing, Apperal, Tshirt, Top
color.............................Black, Blue, Pink (I added the extra colors based on the stuff painted on the tshirt, but you don't have to)
size...............................X Small, XSmall, XS
style.............................Casual
material........................100% Organic Cotton, Cotton, Pure Cotton
feature.........................Handpainted

(make sure to put that low dash instead of space for Attribute Name. Stick strictly to the way the Attribute names are typed. )

Looks like you figured it out fine. Very Happy

I also have some questions:

- If an attribute has more than one value such as "color: red white & blue"
would it be best to put all three values in one attribute or have three separate attributes?

- Does it matter if an attribute is capitalized or not?

- Will attributes work on our Home Page, About Us page, etc?

- Will Google Attributes also help other search engines find our products?

If you type the same attribute name more than once (like: [!color:red!] [!color:yellow!]) after you save only the first one stays and get reported as attribute. Put them in like one with a comma and space between as shown above.
JefferysJunction wrote:

for the Attribute Name part I tend to stick to stricktly whet eCrater has typed (no capital letters), otherwise even the normally recognized attributes don't get recognized.
for the Attribute Value I don't think it matters much. Try to stick to the way people would type them in searches.
JefferysJunction wrote:

Google Base Attributes are for products and strictly for Google Product Search. So if you put them in any other page it won't make a difference in Google Product search.

Adding keyword like: black, tshirt, clothing, handpainted as a string of words will help with all the searches you submitted your url to (like google (search engine), yahoo, msn etc.). If you make sentenses and paragraphs from them they won't look so conspicuous either. Very Happy

No, I don't think so.

Actually I found your posts last night and they really did help me get going so I thank you
I assume that using Attributes is a way of "prethinking" any word a customer might use looking for a specific product to buy
If so what what we put our artwork under? For example we do a large business in Celtic as well as Zodiac Signs to name two that people might be looking for?

If you can't find a specific attribute to put Celtic Design, or Zodiac Sign, Libra, Scorpio, etc. Just type them in the Title (name) of the product. That gets fed as "title" attribute (by eCrater. You won't see it in the attribute list.). You have 100 character space, put it to use.

(You did see the comment I made about your question on attributes for your example item, right? It's right above JeffreysJunction's question)

Yes I did and Thanks
Here is what is weird. We have 96 listings in ecrator right now all with the same exact Titles except for size and actual zodiac sign
If I go to Google SHopping and Search Zodiac Tee Shirt only one of the 96 listings shows which is Aquarius Medium
Lower in the search page it says "refine search for........" and there is a link for ecrator stores. If I click there again only one listing appears but now is Gemini 2xlarge
ANy thoughts

The brand of the shirt is most linkly not MaxEquations - it's probably Hanes, Fruit of the Loom or some other brand. Unless of course you are making the shirt and not just putting the design on it.

Google don't allow duplicate items and weeds them out. No one really knows googles formula to do this so all the website masters try to figure it out.
Other then putting the difference first in the titles or moving them around there isn't much you can do.
I know that you have bought this same topic up before in this forum.
It's simply how google shopping works.
Not every item will every appear - the internet just has way too many items for sale to list everything from every site.

Afternoon-
The brand is Maxequations as yes we do produce all our own garments
I just question why only one of 96 listings shows as I am trying to understand what all this additional work will bring me
If your sign is not Aquarious or you are but not a medium you have no idea that there is a store where all signs are available in all sizes at all times
To go and add attributes to 96 listings I would like to be able to understand does one listing ( which has NO attributes) got to 2, 12, 50

We are still using our Zodiac Tee Program as a test for Attributes.
Can somebody please tell us after one puts them in under a specific listing is there a time period that the listing will show if searched using those attributes?
Also when we search we are amazed how many non tee shirts appear when you search Zodiac Tee Shirts. Pins, magnets and a slew of our items all appear
We are begining to wonder if any of this is worth our time

It takes about 3 days for Google Product search to update their info after you made changes on your store.

I just searched the following at the Google Product search:
Zodiac Tee Program
Zodiac Tee Shirt
Zodiac Tshirt

All I'm seeing are tshirts. Where exactly are you doing your search?

As to if it is worth your time, that really is up to you to decide.
