i set it up with 1and1 and i like them so far, its easy to use and set up although i think for the ecommerce upgrade its going to cost me too much with them, i have seen others that are less expensive,

I have two websites that are FAR larger than my two ecrater stores.
One is a full oscommerce website where I only sell postcards ... there are almost 1000 postcards in it right now but I add items almost daily and my goal is roughly 10,000.
The other website features stamps, postcards, paper ephemera, postal history, collectible board & video games and vinyl records. It also has hundreds and hundreds of items.
I also sell at other online venues |

There is no need to have one's own web-site. My experience tells that there is no trade for one's own web-site (as they are not famous and they lacks mass advertisement). So I have closed my web-site early this year, so as to save my cost. |

For my lingerie I have my own site but its not up and running. Still learning. So what I did was make a page on it that when clicked will go to my eCrater store.
I did it really quick just so I didn't have a blank page and it really needs updated. It's on my long list of things to do!

I have a site that I use as the homepage for my ecrater.com store.
I don't see paying for the expense of a shopping cart if I have ecrater.com store |

I use Zen Cart for my websites. The hosting for muliple domains is around $12 a month. The shopping cart (Zen Cart) is a free, open source shopping cart system.
I'm certainly not putting Ecrater down, but what if something happens to it? You don't own or have any control over it. What if you loose all the stuff you have spent months, years working on. At least with your own site you own the data base and can move it, change it, back it up, move to a different website and so forth. Haveng your own site is like having an ecrater store, advertising and promotion it up to you. |

GOSH I had to laugh when I read this one.
No offense intended, but my dmhcollectibles.com website costs $60 per year to run, total. There are no other expenses. It may not be "famous", but it has made me thousands of dollars over the course of time. I get to keep all of that except for the occasional PayPal fee (which would be the case with a PayPal sale on eCrater also). Should I not spend the $60 for the hosting? Isn't thousands of dollars worth $60???
It's mine, it won't disappear (like some online venues have) unless I want it to, I control how it looks, what is there, how big it is, what can be said there, etc.
I'd be STUPID to do away with it. |
