Hi, hope you guys can help. I ask here because trying to get ahold of Google is no easy task. Crying or Very sad

I just had someone buy an item from me but I ended up getting 2 orders for the same item in my e-mail. They had 2 different order numbers but was for the same listing??? (listing has only 1 for quantity)

I went into the Google inbox and cancelled one order but IT cancelled BOTH!

I immediately wrote the buyer and explained the situation and suggested they go back and click the buy button again. I hope this doesn't scare them away. BTW, thanks GOOGLE, for making me look like an idiot!

Question; has this happened to anyone else and what caused it so I can hopefully avoid it in the future?

Thanks in advance,

Bob

P.S. This would make my 4th sale now! I know it's not much but anything I can sell here and not on ebay is just peachy with me! lol

Ahh, thankfully buyer did click buy button again so I won't lose the sale anyway.

Do you have your Inventory Control enabled in your eCrater store?

There is a lag time of about 15 minutes after the customer buys and before Inventory control hides the item that has run out of availability (they wait for authorization of the charge at Google before the info is sent). So the customer can and sometimes do the same thing over. And may end up with two orders.

But if they were separate orders they both wouldn't get cancelled when you cancel one. And why would they have different order numbers. Sorry but I've never heard of such situation. Maybe someone with more GC experience can shed some light.

Hi, I just checked and Inventory control was not checked so I ticked it now.

What exactly does that do anyway?

Perhaps it was just the buyer clicking twice? I really don't know why both got cancelled though, I didn't think that would happen.

Thanks,

Bob

Inventory control reduces the amount by one after a purchase is made (controls the quantity of your inventory). It works only with instant Google Checkout and PayPal payments (don't ask me why).

If your inventory control is not enabled the quantity of the listing stays the same unless you manually change it.

I just figured it out. I was cancelling the one at the exact same time the buyer was cancelling the other! (with odds like that, I better go play the lottery!)

That is how both got cancelled at the same time.

Really had me going on that one...
