Hi everyone,

One of our most important gardening tools is information: which plants to select for the zone and growing conditions, how to prepare the soil, what to use for environmentally sensitive pest control, where to site fragrant plants for the best impact, and on and on. At Fox and Fish, we've just picked a new crop of top-tier garden reference books to help gardeners grow their way to a successful season.

1. Reader's Digest Easy Roses for North American Gardens - High-quality title that dispels the myth of roses being the fickle "queen of flowers" who will perish without pampering. Written by a rose expert who trained at the New York Botanical Garden, with regional advice from eight professional rose growers across the US and Canada.

http://foxandfish.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=8105496

2. Charles Cresson on the American Flower Garden - Burpee Expert Gardner Series - Author, photographer, plant collector, and lecturer, Charles Cresson is one of America's great gardeners. This book is filled with common-sense, practical wisdom on flowering plants and techniques for siting, planting, and tending them that can come only from decades of hands-on experience as a dedicated plantsman.

http://foxandfish.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=8105141

3. The Gardener's Handbook of Edible Plants By Rosalind Creasy - Noted landscape designer and passionate gardener, Roz Creasy was at the forefront of the edible landscape movement back when environmentally appropriate gardening was barely a germ of an idea. This handbook is packed with detailed information about a vast variety of edible plants and tips for incorporating them into a beautiful, sustainable landscape.

http://foxandfish.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=8105106

4. Gardening With Heirloom Plants - Beautifully written and illustrated book on incorporating heirloom plants - plants that have been in cultivation for at least 100 years - in the garden. Written by an expert on period gardens and heirloom plants. A book to dream and plan on.

Teddy's First Christmas Figurine - Hand Painted Porcelain From Lenox - Charming and Heartwarming

"Teddy's First Christmas" was one of the most popular figurines in the Lenox Teddy and Tiny Tots sculpture collection, which featured a teddy bear and child discovering the world together. In this charming, heart-warming vignette, a wide-eyed little girl unwraps a beribboned gift box to find a fuzzy teddy looking back at her. The fine-grained porcelain bisque is beautifully modelled, capturing the details of the girl's footed pajamas (including the unbuttoned drop seat) and the tufts of the bear's plush fur, and hand painted in the red, green, and snowy white of the Christmas season. Lovely keepsake for marking a little girl's first Christmas or savoring your own holiday memories.

Handmade Belsnickel Christmas Figurine - Folk Art Crafted In Antique Mold - Made in USA

The Belsnickel is a Santa-like figure in Germanic folklore who brings treats to the good children and coal or switches to the naughty ones on the feast day of St. Nicholas, December 6. He arrived in America with Germanic settlers to Pennsylvania and was given form by folk artists, who invariably depicted the bearded creature with a long robe, peaked cap, and black boots, carrying a little "feather" evergreen twig. Chalkware was a favorite medium of these artists, and this charming reproduction figurine is hand crafted from the same "poor man's porcelain" in antique molds. The Belsnickel is expertly hand painted, with piercing blue eyes under sweeping white brows and cheeks rosy pink from making his rounds on the cold winter night. His rich red robe is trimmed with fluffy "fur" and dusted with tiny flecks of glittery "snow." The finish is slightly crackled and distressed for an aged appearance. Includes original tag from Marblehead Made. Handsome addition to folk art, country, or primitive holiday decor.
