Look at one of your items. The main category is the global and the sub category is shown separately as the sub global category. |

How did you do that? I thought you have to choose something from the drop-down menu of categories. Did it just automatically change to the new one? |

Heh, nice. That should help with the extra long category/subcategory choices where you couldn't read the end. |

Oh, you must be talking about each individual store's sub-categories. Mine are really long and now I can read the beginning of the sub-category. |

Oh, you wording just confused the heck out of me. THe Global category refers to the site - the ecrater.com category
therefore I didn't understand that you meant the store sub-categories now show under the stores main category on the category list. |

Errr there are still some subcategories that don't completely fit in the Sub Cat box. |

OK -- I thought Periwinkles was referring to this page
http://bigtallmensclothing.ecrater.com/category.php
BUT I see now that she is referring to when creating a new listing.
I never had an issue seeing the ecrater sub-categories
I wish I could see MY sub-category. |

Must still be a work in progress. In my trading card store, the global categories are in the sub categories. The drop down in the middle for global is blank. I added a product in my jewelry store just a few minutes ago and had local, global, and sub categories when I added it. Now it is back to the old way, just local and global.

I don't think this is universally installed yet. I was listing in the wee hours this am and the category selection appeared as usual. Global and personal. There was no other space. |

It's a work in progress.
There's another topic now on this - lol, I know I just read it but I can't find it or one of them would be locked, lol |

It's this one http://www.ecrater.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=17507
I left it at the time cause this one was stating there is a new feature and the other one was stating a problem relating to the feature.
Maggie all stores are all the same. The Subcategory thing got removed then did not get back, probably because of the problems. |

This feature is coming soon.
Currently there is a conflict with IE browsers creating an error message as reported in the other topic about this.
It will be back once this is figured out and fixed. |

Posted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 2:06 pm Post subject: Requesting new Global Sub Categories?? |
|
|
Very new here - have lots of questions and I'm totally lost.
Most pressing now - global sub categories. How can we request that one be added?
I'm particularly interested in:
In COLLECTIBLES
Vintage Sewing
--Notions and Buttons
----Buttons
This is a very popular category - I was surprised to not find it. Most of what I would be putting in my store would fall into this category.
I know this is a free service and I don't believe in looking a gift horse in the mouth, (bet I'm dating myself with that cliche' ), but my time is really limited and I just don't feel I can spare a lot of time to set up a store if I can't properly categorize my inventory.
Any help, suggestions, directions etc. on if I can make such a request and to whom and how I would make it, would be most appreciated. I hope someone can help me with this issue - I'm anxious to stock my store.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can lend some assistance. |
