I list advertising on craigslist and refer prospected buyers to my website. The way I do it is under the for sale links such as for my products I list under sporting goods. Also there is a small biz site through them although it is mostly cluttered with get rich scemes but you can list there also. You will need to get creative with you listing you can not duplicate an add because they will kick it. I go to different cities and post and get away with it because I am creative. I include some pics of products and my url at least two times. Just introduce what you have to offer no need to go into great detail leave the reader wodering a little and they will click the link if interested. I have been getting a great amount of hits from their site and a few sales. It would also be helpful to have a few different email accounts to list with as they track you this way also. You can get hotmail, yahoo, and so on for free ya know. Its pretty easy really just be sure to be creative and do not list too many in one city, spread them around some. I also noticed my adds are pretty far up the link chain when doing a google search. Craigslist gets a lot of hits but also keep in mind there are a lot of scams on their site be careful not to get sucked in. Hope this helps and if I left anything out that someone wants an answer to I will do my best.

Sorry I forgot the most important thing. do not post your email address with the add as you will get flooded with spam. I think there are search bots that look for that sort of thing. Unless you want viagra, or excellent stock tips. Laughing

I have never even been to craiglist - til now

www.craigslist.org

no idea what I am looking at when I go there.
for some reason it takes me to SanFrancisco
a list of

do you have to register or anything to list there?
What type of results you get?
worth the time? How long does it take to create an ad?
Is there a limit to how many or how often you can list?

Craigslist is VERY easy to use. There is no limit on how many posts you can make as long as you use a different email address with each post. Otherwise the Craigslist Police will block your post. Generally, one post per city is good.

The Traffic generated from Craigslist is REALLY GOOD!

The one problem I have found with Craigslist overall is that a lot of the time user's flag my posts! I really don't know why they don't like my posts being there. I provide a link that directs people to my eCrater Store (I have a free on page 81x website that has a link to my store here) or to my ProStore website. For some reason this bothers some of the users and the post is flagged and it is deleted.

I'm still trying to figure out why they do this. As far as I know it is not against Craigslist rules to provide a link to your own website.

I found with craiglist if you don't log in then your url will show up so people can click on it when you placing your add.
If you log in it won't be click able.
You can post them all over in any stated and city.
Just keep the add short and sweet.
It always seems to open at SanFrancisco

Doesn't eBay own Craig's List? If I am correct it could be why you have problems and the CL cops go after you.

Yeah right I think.
I can add my other store url but not ecraters url. I forgot about that when doing it before. Even when your not log in it won't take it because it knows its a store. My other store it doesn't because I don't start out with tsurfer.ecrater I start out with the site name so it will put in my add then.
You can put your web site in and then they can go from their to ecrater.

In addition to Craigs List I use My Space Classifieds that operate in much the same way.

There is a 24 or 48 hour period between listing in the same category on CL or you will be flagged.

I just go in on Mon/Wed/Fri each week and listing one under Baby Stuff and one under Clothing and rotate throughout the country.

Oh I didn't know about my space classified. Got to go their.
Just tried to do a ecrater again in craigslist but I was signed in this time and it didn't like it. I took my other two store etsy and the jay just fine with links to the item and everything but it doesn't like ecrater. Darn.

I've been a long time Craigslister and I must say my ads are usually "Flagged" off within a matter of hours. I have never been able to post links/urls even after doing what their help forum suggests it still gets blocked. I've emailed them and get no reply. I haven't had much luck with it but try my best to disguise my ad because it seems people have nothing better to do than flag ads all day.

I have better things to do than bang my head against the wall over and over. Why do those of you who keep submitting ads that get flagged put up with it? Is it just the challenge?

I do have ads on my local kijiji (eBay owned) and I've never had them pulled. The only local sale I've had since may or may not have come from there.

PostPosted: Wed Dec 13, 2006 3:27 pm    Post subject: why put up with it Reply with quote

The reason I put up with it and continue to repost is because I know within that small amount of time before my ad is flagged, that my site does grab peoples attention. I have paid attention to my hits/views after I've posted my ad on Craigslist and I think personally I get more hits from posting on Craigslist than anywhere's else. It doesn't take long to post it so I'll continue to bang my head against the wall for a bit longer. Mr. Green
