I have a number of eCRater RSS feeds listed at various sites.

I was wondering if it is giving me a kind of inflated number of hits.

Example, they view the Vintage Camera RSS feed and all the hit numbers for all the cameras go up one.

Just wondering how how it works. Seems to work that way.

hits are counted everytime an item is shown.

For a real count use google analytics

Thanks BTMC.

That makes sense.

I do use Google analytics. Very useful.

On the eCrater 'hits', if someone views a category, that generates a'hit' for everything on the screen. If they click on something, that generates another hit?

So, if I look at a category in the admin screens, I can get a quick general idea of what is getting clicked?

Thanks again.

No. That doesn't incread the hit count at eCrater product pages.

But if a bot calls the page it get's a hit.

Yes. (for eCrater hit counter)

But if you don't filter your IP at Google Analytics your opening the category page will register as part of results.

I think a hit is also registered when an item shows up in the "Featured Item" spot on the front page of the store. If the visitor refreshes then the next item shown gets a hit.

Anybody know if the hits are inclusive of views from the main site or if it's just the store?

Just my theory but I'm going to say it doesn't matter if someone views an item from your store or from the main Ecrater site, it shows as a hit. I may be wrong but the reason I say this is the PID is the same if you view the same item in a store or from Ecrater's main site. The urls are different but it seems to be calling up the same file.

I also think the same thing applies to Analytics. I'm pretty sure the UA number is the same if you look at the same product in a store or in the main Ecrater site.

Thanks, Aspen and BT. Good point about the PID.

I did finally filter my own IP addresses. I knew from the beginning that was a problem but just finally go around to setting up the filters.
