Sold Items, image examples? **FREE SOLD LOGOS

Big and Tall gave a good explanation of what to do for sold items:

You can delete or hide the item once sold BUT in my opinion that's bad for business because as a buyer I want to go back and compare the item once I received it. If you hide it or delete it the buyer can not see it. So I use the SOLD image for about 2 weeks, then I hide it or delete it. eCrater.com will send them a copy of the order. If you want an invoice sent you need to send it.

Remember the item is not actually sold until you have the money. Another reason not to delete it until the customer has received it.

1. I'm not absolutely clear on posting a sold image. Does it just say "Sold" or is it the word "Sold" overlayed on the item image? Can anyone point me to some examples?

2. Do I up upload the image and mark it as the Default Image?

3. Any thoughts on "Sale Pending" versus "Sold?" As Big & Tall said, it's not sold until you have the money.

I know those sales are coming and want to have my image ready, as well as know how to use it! Any help appreciated.

Here is an example of how we do it. B&T has a different sold sign.
Anyone is welcome to copy our sign.
It's a matter of personal preference.
We have it as default pic. Note the added text to the listing.
Also, if the sale is pending. (waiting for a money order or some other reason)
We note in the listing "The sale of this item is pending, should you be interested in purchasing it, please contact us for details"
From there we form a waiting list if necessary and if the sale never happens you have a "2nd chance buyer" in the wings.
We sell one of a kind items, hopefully someone who is selling multiple items will come along with more ideas.

I have seen sellers put SOLD on top of the image of the item - put to me that's #1 more work and #2 blocks the image of the item should the buyer want to see it after receiving it.

I don't use a sales pending, only have received 2 money order payments for purchases from here - so they have all been sold. Besides, if I have to remove it, it's easy, lol.

(you don't have to use it!!) Actually, I'm not sure it will work very well, since I can't experiment on my store, not having sold anything yet...

Etchingsandcollectibles, that's a super nice SOLD sign! I have been using BTM's until now, but with your permission, I would like to use yours, too.

And, cuppatea, you will surely make BigTall very happy with the one you created for him! I find the gesture beautiful - because, like you say, he i always helping others and never seems to ask for anything!

My site has been up a week and I have my first sale!!! It was the Snowbabies Lucky Duck, how appropriate. I added Google Checkout yesterday, and that was how she paid.
