That would appear to be boilerplate, but it is required boilerplate.

I guess it is a boilerplate of sorts but I'm sure it also falls under the requirement of describing the item. The item contains small parts, the item is not intended for children under 3 years.

But I definitely get what you're saying. The same argument can be made for lots of non-description stuff that needs to be included in the description.

What about porn/adult warnings?

Nothing has ever been mentioned about inventory numbers in titles but mine are disappearing like a giant sink hole just opened up under my store. I assume admin is removing them.

I'm not sure how I am supposed to find anything. Every thing is stored by my inventory number. It was only in the title. Not a thing on the outside of the boxes except a list of inventory numbers.

I'm headed to California next week. Maybe I'll just abandon it all and stay there.

IT's in a different topic and you can comment there.
NOT to mention the fact her numbers are there.

Here's a new one- "Unrecognized header: operating_system" that was in the newest updates. Obviously nothing I have control over. I wonder when management is gonna find out how buggy the site is.

Okay, I have read all I can about boiler plates---nothing but a clear, simple description in the listing. No S/H info or combining shipping. I have a question, however. Would the statement "original price in catalog was -----" be considered boiler plate?

I am having to ask this question again because it seemed that I had it in the wrong forum. I have read all the Boiler Plate forums and it is really disturbing that all shipping info will no longer be in the listings. I discount many of my products from what they are in the catalog. Is this a boiler plate message if I say: Catalog price is ______. Thanks again.

I've always pasted this in my listings and filled it out. is this "boilerplate" Clothing has additional ones for measurements (bust waist hips inseam etc.) and material and books say media mail rates are available and "author". How are we supposed to make listings without this info. Are we supposed to take a hour for every listing to make sure no word appears in the same place more than once.

Will our stores be suspended for including "boilerplate" of some kind?

It would take many months, possibly years to edit the number of existing listings I have, if we can even find out what is or isn't allowed. This would put me out of business.

Your vocabulary must be a lot larger than mine, larger than the Webster's unabridged dictionary too. Laughing

Did you read eCrater's comment on the first page of this topic. They are not enforcing it yet. So if you need to edit there is time to do so.

Anything directly related to describing your item is OK. So putting stuff like Author, publisher, size, material etc. etc. is fine.

That is not what this is about. It is not the structure of your listings. It is the content. They don't want to you posting your store terms, your shipping info, what is acceptable what is not, general store rule in your product description. they have their own space, it is called Terms page and FAQ. That is where that info goes. Your product descriptions just contain info about your product. Shipping terms are not product info.

So, no, you don't need to spend hours rearranging words in different combinations in your listing. Just take out stuff like:
"media mail rates are available" (people will see that if you are using the USPS calculated shipping. Most buyers won't know what it is anyway. Your shipping amount shows on the page. and you can put that comment in your FAQ or Terms or both).
"Shipping cost given is for parcel post, media mail rate available if you would prefer (can take up to 2 months or for delivery) email for amount." (that needs to be in your Terms page or FAQ or both)
"See more books at Zann's Vintage" (don't necessarily need that since there are 10 pics of your other products showing at the bottom of your product page as well as a link for your "all products" and at eCrater a lik for your store at the top.)

I have finally removed all the "boilerplate" non-related information from my listings. In the last feed all but 2 were ok.

Then I researched the number of lines I can use before eCrater cuts off my descriptions and my magic number is 8. I have had to change my template to make use of these 8 lines.

I would like your opinion --- The description stops at line 8 happens but all 10 pictures must be loaded before the words [full description] appears. In the time it takes to load the pictures most buyers will click off my site
and NEVER SEE or understand what [full description] means.

On line 8, before the description cut-off, I would like to use the following:

THE FULL DESCRIPTION AND SYNOPSIS WILL APPEAR IN A MOMENT:

http://www.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=5752935&keywords=LOT+3+Nora+Roberts+IN+THE+GARDEN+Trilogy+Complete+Romance+Series+SC+Books

(Mods, if this is considered off topic please move)

The comment you have in your description:
Quote:
THE 3 BOOK FULL DESCRIPTION AND SYNOPSIS WILL APPEAR IN A MOMENT:

is not description of the item. That is an instruction for looking at that page. And it is not correct. It is the link that appears in a few minutes not the description itself.

Read eCrater's terms to see what they stated.
