|
|
I was wondering knew if this effects search engine rankings? Okay I will give some examples, I sell lingerie and clothing, Say My item is bridal lingerie and it comes in plus sizes.
I could put it in any 3 of these categories
womens Clothing>Lingerie
Womens Clothing> Plus Sizes
Womens Clothing> Wedding apparel
Should I scatter my listings or stay primarily in lingerie?
Does global categories do anything other than appear in searches at ecrater?
I am new here but I litterally have hundreds of listings to create would like to be ahead of the game.
I want to say thank you ahead of time because I know this community is extremely friendly from other posts. |

Technically, if an item is not in the proper global category and found by the ecrater.com crawler it will be deleted per the terms of using ecrater.com
IF all you lingerie is plus size - that is where it should be (in my opinion). If I wanted plus size - that is where I would look - not wanting to search through a bunch of stuff that won't come in my size!
Most buyers - others then those that come from Froogle - would come directly into your store - as that is what you are out there promoting and adverting - so they never see the globabl categories. |

I don't know, that's a good question. Although, ideally descriptions and/or titles will repeat the name of the category anyway, I guess. |

NONE! Categories are not picked up by the search engines.
The effect would be if a buyer is in ecrater.com - what category would they look in to buy what you are selling? |

Honestly, I think that the plus sizes should be divided into groups like regular sizes.
I never really thought of the plus size category as the one I should be posting in as I believe Lingerie more exactly what I am selling.
Thanks for enlightening me on this matter BigTallMensClothing. I think I am going to split the plus szes between the lingerie & plus size listings.
My thinking was that a potential plus size buyer, looking for lingerie, would click on lingerie and then type in thier size. |

Just for fun
A search at ecrater.com in
Categories > Clothing & Shoes > Women's Clothing > Lingerie
1X = search results for: 1X (69 results found)
2X = search results for: 2X (68 results found)
3X = search results for: 3X (70 results found)
4X = search results for: 4X (7 results found)
A search at ecrater.com in
Categories > Clothing & Shoes > Women's Clothing > Plus Sizes
1X Lingerie = search results for: 1X Lingerie (1 results found)
2X Lingerie = search results for: 2X Lingerie (1 results found)
3X Lingerie = search results for: 3X Lingerie (1 results found)
4X Lingerie = search results for: 4X Lingerie (1 results found)
Categories > Clothing & Shoes > Wedding Apparel
a search for lingerie brings up ZERO items --- and that's the way it should be as Wedding Apparel is more like wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, etc.
hhhmmm that was rather interesting
as a fat preson I would never think to look in a non-fat person category.
BUT apparently, sellers on ecrater.com don't think like I do. |

I think once I change the categories some the numbers will even out more. Yeah, I do not fit into those smaller size categories either . I guess great minds search differently.
Sometimes bridal lingerie will fit into wedding categories special bras, bustiers for under the wedding dresses are popular. Also, what to wear on the honeymoon, gifts for bride, etc.. I will admit though I do not plan on posting many there. |

See to me that is not APPAREL
that is underwear - lingerie, etc but not apparel.
Just be careful - if you post to the wrong category it might end up deleted. |

Probably the upside is that anybody doing a search (rather than browsing categories) will find the items in all categories.. |
