I really had a lot of fun makeing the labels for the soap and getting a lot of hits but no sales. What would make you buy a item like soap? Is there a certain theme or label that would be better? Would it be better if scented? I know a lot of questions but I am asking them to myself and thought I would get some help with some of these questions. Deb |

First let me ask you this --- what have you done to advertise your web store?
Getting buyers is the job of the seller.
You are in a competive area. How do your prices compare to others?
I would certain take a close up shot of the labels - since it sounds like you are hoping that your label will help sell your product.

You can't really see the label in this one.
Use the close up as the default image. |

Hi again, debmode,
How long has your shop been up and running? You have to give it some time. I didn't realize you made your own labels ~ they're beautiful! !
I don't need my soap scented, but the majority of people? I don't know. Maybe some other soap maker's can weigh in on this.

I was ready to click on buy for the set of bird prints until I saw the tiny little notice that they had been sold...what a disappointment!
Someone here has a thread with 'sold' jpgs that you can post on sold items until you are ready to delete them. that will save you from disappointed or irritated customers who don't notice that little message! |

ALSO please note - it is against ecrater.com terms to have items listed that are not for sale --- such as a sold item. HOWEVER, the ecrater.com teams has agreed to allow a seller to leave a SOLD IMAGE on a listing for 2 weeks that allows enough time for the buyer to receive the item and compare it to the listing.
After 2 weeks - the ad must be deleted or hidden.

I have sold a few vintage items in a short time, which I am very happy about. I really like ecrater. My concern was with the hits and why they were looking and then not buying. I can delete sold items. I know I like to look at stuff I have bought while waiting to get here. Deb

My suggestion is to get better lighting in your photos. Everything looks gray and gray is the color most likely to turn me off. Makes me wonder what the seller is trying to conceal.
Your labels are beautiful by the way. I'm one who prefers unscented soap as I am fragrance sensitive.
Your Wilendur magnolia tablecloth is dogwood. |

Not your fault, it's a learning process. I have to agree with maggie about the perfume-when you are going to put on perfume anyway you don't want it to clash with your soap.
That said...I do love to soak in a tub with rosemary, lavender, mint, etc..very relaxing! We just need to be sure to rinse all the soap off so we don't smell like Mama's kitchen! |

I do agree about the photos, though. The two labels would show up better on a darker, solid background. Do you use a photo editor? If not, download Picasa 2 from google. It's free and allows you to crop, sharpen and change the color saturation on photos-really helps those of us who are rotten photographers!
You'll learn, don't feel bad! We all started out not knowing anything about this, and I for one, am having to learn Ecrater too...it's not like auctions. Best of luck, you obviously have good taste, and picking the right things to sell is half the battle! |

It's probably better to just put them on 'hide this item' until you get them. That's what I'm doing with a necklace I haven't been able to locate, until it shows up! |

If you are out of the item it should be HIDDEN until you get them back in stock. |
