New Google Base/Froogle feed requirements

Hi,

I've had a little store here for the last few months that we are about to expand with an additional 300 or so items, but we were concerned about the new Froogle/Google Base feed requirements.

The new fields that need to be populated in order for a feed from eCrater to be added to Google Base and Froogle are "manufacturer" and "item condition".

How will that be handled here?

I don't think you "have" to add a manufacturer, do you? As for the condition, there is a "used" checkbox in the ecrater listing form, so that's already been addressed. Would be interested in hearing about the manufacturer, heck if I'm going to list my supplier LOL

We provide feeds for our main website, so we received an update from Google concerning the new required fields just the other day. "Brand" and "condition" are the two new required fields, and four other optional fields were added.

Under requirements, the first two fields listed are the new ones. We're modifying our feed scripts for our website right now, but I was wondering how that would be handled here.

As WE are the "Brand" (manufacturer), I'm concerned what eCrater might use as a default for that field, sans any input from us sellers. I would think all they would have to do in order to get our input on this is to add another field to the listing process.

For those that can't, or won't be adding any info to that field, "unknown" would suffice. That was the suggestion from the admin over at tias.com where we have another store.

Just curious though...what IS going to populate the "brand" field? Can we, as sellers, have any control over that?
