I noticed on another thread someone asked how to opt-out of listing on the eCrater.co.uk site.
The following will not remove your eCrater UK store but it will remove all of your products for sale.

Log into the Admin area of your store and Go to "Account > Options" and uncheck "Enable GBP currency"
and "Update"

Go to " More Options > Global Editor" and click "Add Global Action"
Select "Action > set UK price".

Your screen should look like this.

This will remove all products from you UK store. Your UK store will still be there but it will be empty.

If you ship products International in your US store, ignore the following:

If you do not ship International from your US store;
Go into the "Shipping Matrix" and remove any values entered for the United Kingdom. Do this first.

Next, go to the "Shipping Zones" and remove United Kingdom if it is checked.

Hope this helps.
ralph

Thanks for posting this! So the empty store just remains and cannot be deleted? Of course, I guess no one would find it anyway, so it wouldn't matter.

eCrater might remove it for you but this is the only thing I came up with.

With only one product in my store at this time, it serves as a sandbox for me to try out new features. Of course I tried out the new UK features to understand how they work.

After playing around with it I tried to roll it back because I'm not really interested in selling in the UK at this time. I found out that disabling the GBP price wouldn't put things right; products still showed up for sale in the UK store.

I posted this for those who don't wish to sell in the UK.

As an afterthought, I suppose you could do the same thing to remove specific categories from your UK store while leaving others for sale.

A good day to all

if it can be seen -- it can be found.
words on the text pages would be picked up by search engines.

This is not good! It would appear the store is empty when infact the customer can go to the US site and purchase but since the UK site shows it empty they won't bother to look further.

Are you guys saying you have an UK store even if you don't want it. Don't you have to enable it first? I didn't want a UK store so I haven't done anything.

Periwinkles,

You have to enable it to get a UK store. If you do nothing, there is no UK store.

However, your store name 'perwinkles' will not be given out should someone come along at UK ecrater and want to start a store with that name. It's reserved for you in case you change your mind.

Click the links to see how each of these stores appear now on the UK site.

That's just wrong.
I sold alot to UK buyers over the years ... they would find my store in US and then contact me.
NOW, they will find my store in UK and thing I have NOTHIGN for sale

This is going to cause me to lose business.

Since I never opted in for the UK store/site

I shouldn't have a store showing there at all.

Hope they fix this fast!

That is just weird. I would assume that if you didn't enable a UK store, there would be no store. Another case of ASS-U-ME-ing gone wrong! Shocked

That's my point. I'll lose customers of this for sure since they will find me in the UK now and assume I just have no merchandise. They won't take the time to go look at a US site on the dot com side of things.

BT your UK store is empty, but unless someone is searching for your store using the UK url, I don't think they are going to find you. Your repeat customers should have your US url and if all your promotion is to your US url I doubt that you have much to worry about. To find an individual store on the UK site is the same as here, you need the right url. If you are searching for items, since yours aren't listed at the UK they aren't going to happen upon yours (since they aren't there). Buyers can search and find only items that are listed and stores only by urls which have the UK designation. Without that, I don't think buyers can find your empty store. Just keep promoting your US store like you have been.

The only possible concern is if doing a search in google for your store in the UK, you might find it, but since it is a totally empty store, I think the placement would be about dead last to anything else you have unless you have completely manipulated the search so that that is the only thing that comes up.

I haven't done any promoting of my UK store, but my stuff is available so I get sales from there.

My humble opinion only.

I have to agree with BigTall. I don't want my store showing in ecuk unless I enable it. While what Moon says may be valid I would just as soon avoid any confusion. Since I have received many orders from UK in the past I really don't even see why we are messing with this. I can see it as an advantage to UK sellers but not US. I don't want to have to check the exchange rate all the time to make sure I'm current.
If BigTall has had prior customers from the UK and they assume he is now on the UK site and look for him they may indeed assume he has nothing for sale or is out of business. Same here!
Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong but it just seems time would be better spent trying to get our placement on search engines in the US back on better footing would be time better spent by ecrater. JMO.
