|
|
Hello all,
I am hoping someone could help me answer a few questions so I can start my store with a good trend.
Do we have a guess on how far into Google searches the products descriptions for keywords?
All my products are very similar except for shape and such so in my description I have several paragraphs talking about good places/ideas for the product's usage and detailing the product's features. My concern is this may be seen as a boilplate in Google's eyes. I believe I have removed all promotional information like shipping terms and policies so I can comply with the ToS as best as I can. Could my standing be damaged in anyway by having cut and past descriptions even though they truly are pertinent to the product itself?
Also, I see many product titles are filled with keywords in a nonsensical order. Considering there are many of ads in this style I assume this is OK so long as those keywords relate to the product. Is there any harm in using many keywords in the product's title in the eyes of Google or eCrater?
Thanks |

Keywords are fine as long as they are not keyword spamming, i.e. using keywords that have nothing to do with your item but will attract searchers.
I've read a lot of places where people said arrangement of keywords in titles was not important and reminding people that they weren't writing headlines copy but writing for search engines. It makes no difference if the shopper enters 5 words in normal English usage in the search line. The search engines will pick up items with those 5 words in any order. |

Make what is different in the beginning of your title and the beginning of your description and you should be okay.
Google product search only accepts the first 70 characters of your title. |

YES, but MANY people use google search engine and not google shooping.
Based on the TITLE of this topic ..
Quick question... SEO, boilplates, and product description.
SEO would be referring to Search engine optimization NOT google shopping |

The OP asked about "boilerplate", which refers to Google Shopping, not Google's organic indexing.
Maybe you should chill out a bit and stop yelling at people who are offering good information. |

I GUESSING that the boilerplate mention refers to the terms of ecrater.com
A boilerplate refers to repeated information ... it's not a google only term.
EXCUSE me .. but where do you see me yelling at anyone? |

I posted a link to what you wrote on my Facebook page and the comments were unanimous: you were yelling (all caps, bold, etc). Most said you were rude, too.
This is a public forum, lots of people read here.
And now I will most likely be banned so it was nice knowing y'all, and to the OP, good luck with your store. |
