Don't know how many of you have seen this video. Maybe Meg and Bill should watch it.

What is the point of going on that show? Do they really have to pay the money as its not really a true court?

I don't know how it works. I guess it's not an actual courtroom (the official site says she retired from the bench in '96) but she seems like the only "real" judge that I've seen on TV. Maybe they sign something that makes the judgment binding in some way? I don't know, maybe it's all for show.

I think it would be the same as the Peoples court did....
whoever won a judgment... the show paid the "winner."

Ahh, I didn't even think of that, duh. Yeah, that would be why people go on there. It's like a game show where you embarrass yourself for money.

Those court shows are not actual courts. However the judgments are legally binding. The lawsuits are filed legitimately and are transfered to these shows for arbitration. Both parties agree to the judgment and must pay if they lose. The judgment will be on their public record. I hope this clears up some of the confusion for you.

NOT to mention that they get travel etc all paid by the show. Plus the winner gets whatever they won. The loser gets the judgement BUT 99% of the time those judgements are never paid. The winner don't care since the show paid them. The loser signs a contract turning the judgement over to the show.

PLUS they all get their 5 minutes of fame! Rolling Eyes
