Categories shown on left hand side from templates

Hi all,
How do I enter my categories on the left hand side of the page.

For example, I would like this to be shown on the left hand side of the page. From the templates, it looks like it is possible.

However, all I am seeing is that you will have your categories on the home page in the middle bottom portion of the screen.

Is there a way to move your categories around on the home page?

On the home page you can have up to 7 (I THink, maybe 10)
categories shown.

When in the admin area ... click on categories, click on the name of the category or the pencil icon on the right
there it should show you the option to upload an image representing that category and select the position you would like it to be in on the home page.

You can not arrange the categoryies as shown on the category page or on the left side on the items list/gallery

The featured categories on the home page are a fixed format. You can change what is there but not where it is. That home page is really only about a half page in height and ends with the line of links below the featured categories.

The home page allows you to list a link with a photo to 7 different categories. These categories can be top level categories or subcategories, your choice. You are allowed to arrange the order the categories are shown on your home page, BUT they only appear in a row at the bottom of the page.

The screen shots of the home page showing the different color choices are outdated. At one time we were only allowed 5 categories and there were some stock links on the left under the photo. I forget now what those links were, but they were not the seller's own categories. As far as I know, eCrater has never allowed the seller's categories to be listed on the left on the home page.
