|

I LOVE Ecrater!! Although I don't make much, at least it's not ALL going to fees and postage - I get a dollar or two from each sale.
With all the changes Google (and other sites) is making, I'm wondering if Ecrater will remain a free listing site or if, at some point, there will be hosting/listing fees. With so many items listed, I'd hate to have to abandon my site and/or begin again.
Just need some assurance that continuing to input items will not be in vain. |

We haven't had any indication from ecrater that they will start charging us, nor have they said that they will be paying to be in the shopping feed. so the answer to your question, is we don't know.
However in the last couple weeks in a burst of feeling well, I listed over 200 items and have plans to list many many more! |

I will keep on listing and updating till I hear fees are going to be applied. With thousands of items a listing fee could really do me in fast.
However eCRATER has always been up front and professional so I'm sure if they plan to make changes they will let us know in time to make our own decisions. I can't imagine how eCRATER or other low budget sites can compete with Amazon and eBay and Walmart when it comes to bidding for hits. |

I've been listing here since 3/2005 never paid a penny
the owner of the site has said it would be free every time he's asked
Lots of things have changed since 2004 when this site started and he's always kept it free. |

Thank you owners of Ecrater for the free site -- however, I'm probably in the minority that you should charge "something" if even a penny for each transaction we complete.
I have been hoping for an update to the site (more graphical, for instance) and think if the owners got revenue this would help in that endeavor. |

I've been thru this before, at another site that I've sold at. eCRATER collecting a payment from the seller would add another layer of administration. eCRATER would then have to chase sellers for payment. I do not expect to see that happen. |

I am so happy that our listings CAN'T have more graphics, because lets face it, most sellers aren't graphic designers but computers give of us the tools to pretend we are and sites where the non-artistic seller has been let loose with their graphics programs are a mess and slow to load. Not saying all are like that, but many are with huge boldly colored fonts screaming at buyers and giving death threats, etc. for non-payment. I think ecrater was very smart to set up a nice listing format and not allow sellers to mess around.
I'm also sure that if ecrater decides to impose a charge any time in the future we will have advance warning. At this point, ecrater can continue on in their regular way other than they can't upload to GS. But since promoting and marketing has always been our job anyhow, we may have to do some more work to get our sales. |

I sure hope so, I just can't relist every 7 days, can't or won't afford a store, have no desire to be a "TRS" on e_bay
but I have a lot of things to go through that I just can't throw away, and don't want to sell in a garage sale.
and for sure, thanks Ecrater, all is good, you are like the ONLY rose between two thorns. more like 50 thorns |

Well, I disagree if they already have our Paypal or Goog accounts on file. I"m not advocating that they DO charge, but it would help in terms of upgrading the site which has not been changed since I've been here. |

I came here because I used to use Auctiva, a site that claimed it would always be free, to list on eBay.
Once they started charging, I moved everything off there and to here before they could bill me.
Now that I've learned how to make my own ecommerce site, I'll just move if they start charging here.
I appreciate the learning experience, but I'm flexible. I won't ever get caught depending on "free" for my livelihood, only to get the switcheroo and get extorted for payment again. Learned my lesson quick!
(edited to fix the typos because I'm not very good at typing on my phone)

I like ecrater the way it is right now. If they ever started charging I'd have to pack up my stores and find another free site, which would suck because with all of the other free sites I ever visited, you were only allowed to sell 5 to 25 products at a time or you weren't allowed to list anything that costs over a certain dollar amount. Either that, or there were no individual store fronts. Your products just got thrown into a huge pool of items. You didn't even get a store for people to visit so it was very hard to get people to come back and shop with you. There are alot of people that complain that ecrater is not customizable enough and because of that, they want ecrater to start charging so we can personalize our stores better. Hey, ecrater is perfect compared to the other free sites I've sold with and researched into and I have no complaints.
As long as they state they are going to be free, they will be free. It seems like some people just keep pushing for them to charge us. I've also heard others state that they should make a free store option and a pay per store option for us to choose from. Bad idea. Once marketplaces start charging for some things here and there, they almost always eventually decide to make the whole site a paid for site so, no. It's not a good idea. |

I am new here, opened my store less than a week ago, finally have a few items listed, and lol just set up my shipping matrix. I know, I should have read a little more 1st, no harm, no foul.
Anyway, I'm real new to forums, but I intend to get involved with eCRATER forums.
I am very happy with the layout, the simplicity, and the fact that it is free.
Also, the forums I have read so far have all been quite helpful.

Nice to have you Guru. You can't imagine how frustrating it can be for people that have been with ecrater less than a week proposing changes, saying they would be happy to pay for them, etc. when many of us came here to get the 'free' feature, to not have to play around with graphics, to have simple and quick listing. My hubby had said we could get satelite internet once we were selling enough (it was a catch 22 internet on dial up in the country with mice chewing the lines was slow, but without higher sales we couldn't afford it). Just switching here from ebay and listing on ecrater, it was so quick I felt like I already had satellite and in less than a year we were selling enough to sign up for it
Ecrater can be a terrific place to sell on and one where you can feel that if YOU work hard, you can get the benefit, instead of spinning your wheels at places such as ebay where they spend their time figuring out how pull the rug out from under you and then having you pay for the opportunity.
Wishing you every sucess! |

Basically eCRATER's simplicity and bare bones format suits my technological ignorance. I'm lost when it comes to dealing with Facebook, Pinterest and Google. KISS is my mantra. |

lol, maggie.
It's actually funny, I'm an electronics specialist. yet i prefer simple, and have problems with the whole facebook stuff, and other things like it.
I vacated eBay because I would have had to charge way too much money for the services i offer in order to make any money.
the fact that this sight is free. when i heard about it, i almost started doing cheetah flips..... almost.
now, if only i can start selling my kits so fast that i have to stay awake 23.5 hours a day to get them all done in time...
then i will start doing cheetah flips. |
