Yup, in Nashville Tennesse, it is officially 110 degrees.

This is the hotest it has been since records have been kept.

It's supposed to be almost as hot tomorrow but not quite.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the Independence Day Celebration in White House Tn. I hope they cancel all the activites (5K run, pancake breakfast, concerts etc) except the fireworks. It's just too hot to be outside.

That is unreal! I sincerely hope you have air conditioning or are planning to camp out at the mall!

Beer? Coolin' in the fridge. Wine coolers too.

My poor air conditioner has been running continuously. Did the same thing yesterday until about 8pm.

Had to laugh, this morning the propane gas truck arrived to make a delivery...heat supplies in the heat. The truck overheated coming up the drive. That 600ft, 25/30 degree slope really gets to the trucks.

It has been in the 100s all week here, but that is "normal". I hope it is a bit cooler than last summer, and I hope we don't have another drought in Texas this year. The wildfires were awful.

We are restricted in our water usage (last year entire city wells ran dry) and they are very strict on when you can water your veggie garden, lawn, wash your car, etc.

Yet a block away Chesapeake Energy has a hose hooked up to the fire hydrant and is pumping millions of gallons right of city water to frack a well. Just doesn't seem like a good priority--at least with the watering the gardens, etc, the water goes back into circulation. With fracking, it is super-contaminated and has to be trucked away to be disposed of and sealed off so it doesn't get into the groundwater.

Last year they had a hard time fighting the fires because of lack of water.

It is still raining here. I would complain except I look at pictures of Colorado and am thankful for rain.

Has anyone read The Road by Cormac McCarthy? If you have you know what I mean.

It's been in the early 100's and mid to late 90's here in Kentucky. We had a nasty little storm last night and apparently lots of folks have lost power because of it. The power outages struck my town but it skipped right over top of me and my neighbors, we still have power thankfully. It's just too hot to be without A/C. Looks like the outages hit several states in the midwest from what I have been reading.

And it's worse over here in the eastern and midwest regions because we have all of that humidity on top of it. Humidity can make 110 feel like 130 easily.

It feels even hotter today, even though the weather lady said it's not as hot.

The Lions Club had their auction. We didn't get as many donations as other years - some of our regulars had to say no because of the economy. Even with huge fans set up and free cold water, it was hot. The auction crowd was smaller so combined with the heat, we did pretty good. Our auctioneers kept things moving at a very steady clip, faster than normal. It helped having one auctioneer selling and the other two spotting bids - sometimes there is something to be said for having professionals do the job. (they donate their time by the way)

Came home, ate a sandwich and slept for two or three hours.

It's supposed to be hot all week, though not quite this hot. This is record breaking for us, the closest stretch of high heat was in 1952.

Silly dog still hasn't figured out the coolest place in the house is the ceramic tile floor in the kitchen.

Canada is sounding better all the time. Maggie, got an empty corner for a sleeping bag?

Tomorrow will be cooler, tomorrow will be cooler, tomorrow will be cooler.
Just keep saying that as you swelter today.

The humidity isn't too bad. For a brief time we even had a mountaintop breeze. Now it's more like a whimper.

It's been in the 90s in so California this week. Next week we're going to get it... they're saying it will be over 100.
