I have made a big mess of my categories in my Store.
I have all the W/Gigs in a individual category and would like to change it to just 1 central category. How do I accomplish this?
Thanks,

No idea what that means BUT
FIRST create the category you want them in.
Second go to products, find one you want moved, click on the pencil to the right of the title, change to the category you want it in.
Do that for all the items.
Then go to categories and click on the red X of the categories you want to delete.
MOVE the items FIRST or you will delete them! |

Mr. Tall, I have multiple W/Gigs listed such as:
Blue Bird W/Gig,
Mallard W/Gig,
Humming Bird W/Gig
Canada Goose W/Gig, etc.etc.
They come up individually.
I want all of them to be under 1 standard W/Gig category eliminating all the repeated ones individually
Category to be~~~ (Whirligigs)
Thanks hope this clears it up for you. I don't want to wipe all that work out so I want you to understand what I mean so I will get instructions I can understand from you.
Thanks so very much for your help.

Just follow my instructions -
FIRST create the category you want them in.
Second go to products, find one you want moved, click on the pencil to the right of the title, change to the category you want it in.
Do that for all the items.
Then go to categories and click on the red X of the categories you want to delete.
MOVE the items FIRST or you will delete them!
And all will be fine! |

Mr. Tall- thanks for trying to help me, but I have tried and I don't understand what to do. I am terrified of messing up and loosing all that hard work. I did loose one already.
I will see if my sister understands it, and can help me.

Create a new category in the same way you created the others.
Log in to Admin > Click Categories > Click Add New Category
Call the new category "Whirligigs" or whatever you want.
Once that's done go into each whirligig item page (in Admin), scroll down to "Local Category", find your new category ("Whirligigs") in the list and choose it. (You edit the items by clicking on Products, find the item you want to edit and click the pencil icon to the right of it.)
Once you hit the Update button at the bottom that item will now be moved to the new category.
Make sense? Try one and then go to your store (not Admin) and see the results. |

Poopsheet- I got them all put into the new WHIRLIGIG category but they are still showing up on my full list of categories with ~~~0~~~ listed beside each one of them I changed. I wanted to cut them down to just 1 category showing all of them . What should I do now?

Yes, that's the part I forgot! As long as they're now showing in the proper category you can delete the old ones as silvermoon described. |

From What to do AFTER you register
http://www.ecrater.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=301
A featured category can be a root category or a sub-category. This will be one of 5 categories that will some up on your home page. You must upload an image to have this be a featured category.
click on categories
click on the category you want to feature on the home page
decide which position you want this category to be in and then upload an image relating to that category.
Click on add.
Make sure you select a position number! |

Just love that sewing machine shelf. If I knew anyone who sewed that would be their Christmas gift this year. Really clever. |

They will probably be there Christmas.
I have only sold 3 item on Ecrater so far. I craft those all the time though- they have been good eBay sellers.
Just let me know when you need one, it doesn't matter when.
