I am listing in advertising and there is a sub category merchandise - memorabilia. would that be what won't fit in the other categories or would I use advertising for that. thanks |

Why are you listing in advertising if you are selling sewing patterns?
Collectibles / sewing / patterns is the route you should follow.
If you are not listing sewing patterns then I don't know what you mean. |

Log in with your other store name and then we can see what you are talking about. As is we are just guessing. Advertising comes in many forms and for many products. |

A category moderator told me that advertising > merchandise - memoriblia was for things like glasses, ash trays etc that are used by companies to promote themselves.
Advertisements don't belong under paper.
Your choices are somewhat limited. If it's not food/soup or auto related, I stop with collectibles > advertising. |

That is weird since so many 'advertisements' were printed on paper or other paper type ephemera like coupons, newspaper ads, etc. |

I know. I thought they belonged in paper too. The moderator disagreed and moved all my listings to advertising and told me she wouldn't move them again, get them in the right place! (this is back in like 2008/2009 when I opened this store)
I printed out her criteria, but don't have the link.
Paper: any type of paper that is collectible for some reason and does not fit in any other category. This would include vintage calendars, greeting cards, wills, deeds, letters, brochures...
Advertising: Almost anything goes, here. If it has a company name printed on it, is used to attract customers (such as fast food toys), came in a box of cereal, it's advertising.
So since magazine advertisements have a company name printed on it and is used to attract customers they belong in advertising. |

There is no need.
The question is clear ... it don't matter what is in the store or not in the store
Unfortunately, I am not knowledgable on different types of advertising so I can not answer the question. |
