Hello,

When I sold here briefly back in 2009, it would populate the Tracking info onto my Order after I generated the label thru PPAL shipping.

It doesn't now. Is something not set right on my end? Or is that one of the changes to the site since I'd left then came back?

I also wish we could make comments to our buyers right on the order.
But it's not the end of the world that we can't.

In order to do that our buyers would have to have an account here, and ecrater doesn't feel the need to do that right now. It's kind of nice using a site where the buyers don't have accounts, just quick In & Out transactions but on the other hand there would be some advantages to them having accounts too.

Other than that, the only way to talk directly to a buyer is via email. You could always start an email conversation with them on Yahoo. Now with Yahoo, anytime you reply to one another it gets filed under the same email as a conversation for easy reference back to the original messages

The only way to populate your tracking number was to insert into your 'paper work' at PP. Never was done here in all the time I've been here since 2008 I believe. Sounds like you might be mixing up venues or else I didn't understand your question but we have never had a way to even mark that we have shipped our items much less put in a a tracking number or send a comment. If I want to make a comment, I do it on the packing slip I make or on my shipping notification. I use my own templates for both of those which I much happiet with than some venues templates that they want you to use.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will tell me. but I sure don't remember having that ability.

Thanks for making me take a 2nd look Moonwishes -
It wasn't Paypal that populated the Tracking Info on the Order here,
It was when shoppers paid with Google Checkout.
I went back and checked - it was easy enough to do as I don't have THAT many orders here yet..

And since Google Checkout is defunct, I guess that takes care of That!

Just for the record for others who may be reading this thread, Google Checkout didn't do this either. If we wanted the tracking number on Google Checkout, we had to log in to GC and add the tracking number on GC. There has never been a way to add a tracking number on eCRATER for any payment method.

I agree you must be confusing with other site. I never saw tracking numbers added in the eCrater invoice. The info was added in the PayPal info.

I stand corrected. There was a place on eCRATER to add the Tracking number for Google Checkout orders. At the bottom of the order in our admin where there is the delete button there is also a link to "add tracking". I never used that feature. I checked an order from July 2011 that was paid via GC where I added the tracking info on the record in Google Checkout. The tracking info was not added to the order page on eCRATER, however, tonight I noticed the following info on the order page in eCrater:
Payment through: Google Checkout
Google Order #: 757015653759215
Financial State: CHARGED
Fulfillment State: DELIVERED

Google Checkout must have sent back the info regarding the fulfillment state because I did not add that information. Now I have new, totally useless information. Laughing But I do understand namebranddealz question better.

I always put my tracking numbers directly into GCO and PP. I think once I heard about doing GCO on the admin board, but I guess I figured I didn't need to do it twice. Yep, we all have our own brand of nuttiness!
