This thread is a base for solutions to common questions associated with PAYPAL
It will take a while for the development of this thread, so if you see a good thread with a good solution to a problem that I have missed, or any past threads that relate to PAYPAL then please message me with the URL.
We will also be developing similar threads for all other areas of selling on Ecrater.
Hope this helps us all!
Happy ecratering!

MY SHIPPING IS SET BUT PAYPAL ADDS EXTRA CHARGES- WHY?
Log into your Paypal account and make sure the override check box is checked in your Profile. If omitted, and your Profile-based shipping is enabled, your customer will be charged the amount or percentage defined in your profile. |

POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR PROBLEMS WITH PAYPAL PAYMENTS
"Buyers with problem credit cards.
Many credit cards and debit cards expire on the 1st and 12th month of the year. People forget to change their expiration date in PayPal when they get a new card.
The problem arises when new cards and old expiration dates are used in PayPal.
Make sure your PayPal settings will allow all forms of credit cards that PayPal offers."
"If you use Domain Masking it can interfere with the paypal payments process." |

If you have a problem with people trying to pay via paypal when they ordered more than 1 item
CHECK PayPal
In paypal profile ...in payment receiving... if you block accidental payments ... multiple payments for orders with identical Invoice ID's
the payment will not work.
Single orders go thru just fine but multiple items will not
So make sure your PayPal payment received profile is correctly set up. |

Masking does NOT work fine and it not reccommend.
First of all when you mask the url a shopper can not bookmark a specific item.
Second it does not work with PayPal.
This is what I get doing a test on a MASKED url
This is what I shoudl get -
the needed info is not there when a url is masked. |

Buyers DO NOT HAVE to register with PayPal to use PayPal to process their credit card payment. Therefore the address may not be confirmed.
here is the screen a buyer sees when purchasing from a seller on ecrater that accepts credit cards through PayPal
SEE the section on the left that I have bordered in red that says --
Don't have a PayPal account
IF the shopper clicks there they get this screen
and can then enter their info to have their payment processed without ever registering to use PayPal.
THINK of PP as your merchant account and don't think of it as having anything to do with ebay because in this case it don't. |

SHOULD I TEST IF MY PAYPAL SET UP IS DONE PROPERLY BY BUYING AN ITEM IN MY STORE AND PAYING MYSELF WITH IT?
NO. Do NOT ever COMPLETE A PAYMENT TO YOURSELF at PayPal. That will get your PayPal account suspended if and when PayPal sees it.
Paying oneself with electronic payment methods is a money laundering method, hence the electronic payment companies (like Google Checkout and PayPal) take it very seriously and will not tolerate it. Do not chance your account.
You can make a partial purchse in your store. That is only go in as far as to login to your PayPal account in the purchase process. But never ever OK the payment. |
