This is the situation.
Jan. 8 my sister sent me a large envelope with paper in it and put tracking on it from Lancaster, PA.
Jan. 10 it arrived at and left Jamaica NY processing center.
It has been in transit to destination ever since according to USPS tracking.
Canada Post has no record of that tracking number although it says it is a legitimate number which seems to me means it hasn't entered Canada yet.
Anyone with experience sending tracked items to Canada can you tell me how or where I might track down this envelope? |

Maggie I don't know the answer to your question, but I have had FCM packages go to Canada and it has taken a month to reach them and we live about 120 miles from Canada, but those types of mail go all over the place first. Any reason why customs might think they have to open and/or inspect it. Did she use a handwritten address or a printed one. If handwritten, it may have taken longer. I assume by this time your sister knows you address so it shouldn't be a mistake. |

My sister is 80 so your guess is as good as mine. I know her eyesight is not so great but she seems of sound mind when we speak on the phone. Don't know what kind of label she put on it or if it was sent priority or first class.
I send first class mail to the US all the time and they take 4 or 5 days. |

Did your envelope arrive? If not, when you make your next trip to the USPS ask them to run a trace on the tracking number. You may have to speak to the Post Master. Sometime they can run a trace that will either reveal the location, or "jar it loose" in the system.
Was the tracking number from the Custom form or did she pay for the expensive International First Class Parcel which allows for tracking into Canada? |

Sheila tracking still shows it in transit. Canada says it hasn't entered the country. I was in a US post office Wednesday but didn't have the tracking number. She did say I should do a search. I don't know what tracking was on the envelope. My sister isn't the most savvy person when it comes to international mail. It's only been 40 years that we have been communicating cross border. |
