Thank you for all the information as the fog is clearing for me.
Are there any extras like "," or "--" that shouldn't be used with product attributes?
I would like to use the following which I believe to be RELEVANT for books but if I am wrong it would be easier to change now rather than later!
[!isbn:0451524233!]
[!mpn:10987654321!]
[!author:John Steinbeck!]
[!publisher:Stewart, Tabori and Chang!]
[!made_in:US!]
[!year:2005!]
[!feature:Illustrated!]
[!binding:Soft Cover!]
[!genre:NonFiction!]
[!pages:180!]
[!occasion:American Travel!]

For what it's worth-and it may not apply in this case, but I'll bet it does. Google does not allow the word 'travel' in your description or title. Take my word for it, I always forget and have to delete it before my listing will go through. |

Google says for books you should have
Books
author
binding
edition
genre
pages
publisher
The way I read the occassion attribute it's for jewelry - Google says - http://www.google.com/base/products.html#occasion -
occasion
The special occasion the jewelry is intended for, if applicable.
Format:
Text.
Tab-delimited example:
engagement
XML example:
<g:occasion>engagement</g:occasion>
I never heard of an occassion called American Travel - so I doubt that would even apply. |

I offer buyers a choice of yellow OR white gold for most of my jewelry items. Is it permissable to include two separate "color" attributes? Like this:
[!color:yellow!]
[!color:white!] |

For my regular website, I have added about 10 different ones -- "location" "tax percentage" etc -- i.e., ones that I can add with one column on the spreadsheet. It definitely helps my placement.

Just to make it clear: you don't have to add shipping and tax attributes. This are being added automatically by the eCRATER system. Please stick with the attribute list you can find in the "Promote My Store" section if you wish to improve your Google Product ranking. |

I'm trying really hard to understand this. Would this be something I would put in for china and dinnerware?
[!brand:noritake!]
[!department:dinnerware!]
[!material:china!]
[feature:dinner plate!]

Yes, this will work. |

Some attributes require only numbers, for example "pages", "battery_life", "isbn". For the attributes that does not specify a special format you can use "," or "-" inside.

Looks good to me with the exception of "occasion" attribute. You cannot use it with Books. it is for Jewelry only so just get rid of it. |

UPDATE:
Now these attributes will be hidden when you open the product page. The buyers do not need to see them so I made them hidden in the product page.
If something is still showing this means that you did something incorrect - using attribute(s) not supported by eCRATER.

Also I would like to explain the difference between the horizontal and the vertical format.
Example for a vertical format:
[!UPC:025192014529!]
[!Format:DVD!]
[!Rating:PG-13!]
[!actor:Arnold Schwarzenegger!]
Example for a horizontal format:
[!UPC:025192014529!][!Format:DVD!][!Rating:PG-13!][!actor:Arnold Schwarzenegger!]
The only difference is that if you are using the vertical format there will be some empty lines added when you look at the product page.
If you are using the horizontal format there will be no empty lines added. |

So I guess the following attributes are not supported:
[!product_type:xxxx!]
[!recommended_usage:yyyyy!] |

"product_type" is already included in our bulk file. The eCRATER system determines the product type automatically based on what global category you have selected. Please make sure you selected the most appropriate global category. This is very important for good placement in Google Products.
"recommended_usage" is not supported at this time from eCRATER. It refers only to computer systems and appropriate values are 'home' and 'work' |
