If you read everything a couple of times, it seems to imply that there could be charges and that you agree to it when you agree to conditions on the last
page. Could be wrong but that is the way I read it!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for any help,

You only need the UA number and you plug into the field in Admin > Account > Options.

OK, I did all that. But why does it say to paste the javascript into the page? How does it track without the tracking code??
Thanks,
windsong

That's how it normally works for those who own their own website. But since eCrater owns the site the code is taken care of by them. For some reason, even though they offer Google tools to many venues like eCrater, Google just hasn't set up the instructions to be specific for those situations.

Does that mean that we don't have to worry about "setting goals" and Do or Don't Track Site Search?

I don't really know much about the goals myself. From glancing at the info it looks like we can do that but it's not necessary. I think it's just a tool for seeing if visitors are getting to a specific page you want them to get to.

"Track Site Search" I'm not sure about...

You are right about setting goals. It shows a visitor's path to a certain destination page and it's not necessary but it can be helpful. I think here the best we can do is set up using the checkout page. It will help determine how many visitors make it that far but it won't show if they actually paid or not.

Using the Track Site Search is a function we can't use as it would require setting up a Google Co-op Custom Search or Google Mini App. Ecrater stores have a built in search function it's just not supplied by Google.

I set this up yesterday, and have information coming into it today. These reports are very interesting!

Thanks for the heads up on this discussion board!

Have a wonderful last Sunday of 2007!

Another way to get to the UA #

1. Sign in to Analytics
2. Top left side click link "analytic settings"
3. Click link "edit analytics account"

On the page you'll see your UA#

hth

That page don't show the -# at least on mine it don't

This is true. You would think they'd make it easier. I only have 3 sites there, but I can imagine how it is for you with all those stores and other sites you have.

So this would only work if you had only one site you need the number for.

Thanks to all for the info on this. I have gotten it set up and do find it useful. Just wish it didn't take soooo long to load on dial-up. Too bad we can't use sitemeter here as it loads so much more quickly. But something is better than nothing! Thanks eCRATER. Smile

Bounce Rate

direct from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bounce_Rate
Bounce Rate (often confused with Exit Rate - see reference) is a term used in website traffic analysis. A Bounce occurs when a website visitor leaves a page or a site without visiting any other pages before a certain session timeout elapses

Ways A Visitor May Cause A Bounce
1. Close the open window or tab or simply type in a new URL
2. Click Back Button, which would take them away from the website
3. Time-out, where no other action is taken after set time period

Bounce rates can be used to help determine the effectiveness or performance of an entry page. An entry page with a low bounce rate means that the page effectively causes visitors to view more pages and continue on deeper into the website
