I must admit, when I first started I thought it would be a breeze - and for the most part it was. However, I decided to change around my categories and am looking for your opinions on how this works for a potential customer. I thought the way it was before was too cluttered with far too many categories and sub-categories, but now I don't know about this way either.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

In my opinion as a store owner I think it depend on how many items you think you will have in any giving MAIN category.
If you have less then say 25 items - I see no reason to break that category down. BUT if you have 500 items in a category then you need to break in down. 25 or so - people will look at them - 500 items people will NOT dig through.
I can not remember how you were set up category wise before but if you change it again You might do this:
Make a main category for each STYLE of jewelry like
Bracelets
>> Costume
>> Designer Signed
>> Fine Jewelry - Gold
>> Fine Jewelry - Silver
Brooches / Pins
>> Costume
>> Designer Signed
>> Fine Jewelry - Gold
>> Fine Jewelry - Silver
Earrings
>> Costume
>> Designer Signed
>> Fine Jewelry - Gold
>> Fine Jewelry - Silver
Everything Else
>> Costume
>> Designer Signed
>> Fine Jewelry - Gold
>> Fine Jewelry - Silver
Necklaces
>> Costume
>> Designer Signed
>> Fine Jewelry - Gold
>> Fine Jewelry - Silver
Rings
>> Costume
>> Designer Signed
>> Fine Jewelry - Gold
>> Fine Jewelry - Silver
Sets
>> Costume
>> Designer Signed
>> Fine Jewelry - Gold
>> Fine Jewelry - Silver
BUT I am not in the jewelry business nor do I shop for it often - so my idea might really not be that good, lol! |
