There is a tool/application on facebook called Static FBML. You can add personalized tabs/boxes to your page through it. I'm trying to figure out how to get the widget on there... when i figure it out, i'll post. otherwise, i cannot figure out how to put the widget on facebook because of their fbml issues. i looked up flash help in their wiki and it's confusing as heck.

There's another app called Flash Player, but you need to upload your own file. Is there any way we can download the widget?

ok, this is going to take patience so bear with me!

First, you need to add an application. This can be either to your personal page or to your "fan" page. The application is for you to use code. I recommend Static FBML. This application actually gives you blank pages to work from so you can add up to 10 tabs to your page, name them what you want, and design them as such.

The hard part is dealing with code other than html. First thing you need to do is get the code made for your widget. Do it in flash (I haven't figured out how to make the Java work yet). This is when a browser with tabs comes in handy.

Second, go somewhere and have a graphic made for your store that is basically the same height as the widget you chose. Within that graphic, I would put the words "Click Here to view some products" or something like that. Upload that graphic to a free host such as photobucket. *You MUST have this graphic* for the widget to work.

Third, go to the Static FBML and create a new box. Upon doing so, you will be asked to give it a title. I named mine, Online Store. Then you'll get a box where you will need to put the code.

Fourth, the code. This can get tricky, so pay attention. This is what you need to put in the space:

Code:
<center>
<fb:swf
swfsrc='http://www.ecrater.com/widget.swf'
imgsrc='http://xxxxxxxxx'
flashvars= ************
width="###" height="###" />
</center>

Go ahead and copy that code and paste it, but don't save it yet.

After imgsrc=, put in the link to your graphic that you made.

For flashvars=, look at the code that ecrater made. You'll see flashvars= something. Copy that and paste it in this code.

Do the same for width and height.

NOW save changes. Look at it. See if it came out alright!

Here's the link to my page to look at how I did it:

Sounds like you took the widget and made it an image. It's not clickable and defeats the purpose of having a rotating widget.

Did you even try the one i posted? it's supposed to be clickable. once it is clicked, the widget shows up. FB does not allow for autoplay of anything. It worked when I tried it. You just click on the tab that says online store, click on the image and the widget shows. It's not the absolute perfect solution, yet it still helps promote a store.

If I click on YOUR image - yse if then shows ANOTHER image
an image of the widget
BUT the purpose of a widget is to show off random items and clickable to your store.
All you did was post a picture of your widget.

it's not supposed to be an image of the widget... clicking on my image starts the flash widget. you can click the arrows to brows trough just as you're supposed to. What browser do you use? I use firefox and it works perfect.

The WIDGET is suppose to click to your store here on ecrater. When you see an item you like click and BONGO you should be on that item so you can purchase it. That's the purpose of the widget.

ok i apologize... i see the issue now... when i loaded the code yesterday it DID work, but for some reason it quit. i'm trying to figure out how to get java to work - maybe it will in the long run. Facebook just hates to make coding easy.

Here's a convoluted and rather unsatisfactory way: I added an application called "My Web Embeds" and put it on a tab called "Boxes." I pasted the HTML/Javascript widget code into the embeds. It works, BUT, you've got to click on the "Boxes" tab, and then click on the name you've given the eCrater widget to get it to show. However, it does work correctly.

Maybe there's some other application that will do a better job of this. I'll look more tomorrow.
