I've played around with my logo, trying to change the pixels to conform to eCrater's requirements for uploading. I have my logos in Photobucket, and can't seem to figure it out.

Although my first priority to to get sales (not looking good!), I would like to use my avatar in postings.

How have you played around with it? You can change the pixel size in most photo editors like Photoshop or IrfanView. You have to do that on your computer and then upload the new logo to eCrater directly.

I usually have my pics in Photoshop at 300 for the top block. When I changed it to 299, it was still too big for eCrater, and when I changed it to 100 the actual picture was tiny, tiny, and I think it still was too many pixels for here.

I opened varied windows in Photoshop, and whatever I tried, didn't work. BTW, when you end one # in Photoshop, the 2nd # automatically shows. It seems it's not possible to type in specific #s in width and height.

You should be able to set whatever width and height you like in Photoshop (at least that's how my version works). You can also choose whether or not you want one measurement to proportionally change with the other.

My store logo is 135 x 68 px. I'm not sure what the max is but you probably wouldn't want it taller than 100 px. I imagine it can be much wider than my 135px though.

I'm assuming, of course, that you're talking about the topmost picture (normally a store logo) and not the larger image that's directly above the "Most Popular" graphic.

Oh, and if you think the file size (the kb not pixels) is too big try using Photoshop's "Save for Web" option.

Thanks, poopsheet. I've got it so small! And I still get

The avatar image file size must be less than 6 KB

I have no idea how to fix that! (In case you haven't noticed, I'm a real dummy!)

BTW, I'm refering to getting an avatar for the forum. I didn't have a problem getting it on my home page.

Arrgh, I completely forgot that I'd read the word "avatar" in the first post. Sorry about that!

I'm surprised nobody else has popped in here with some suggestions. I haven't actually tried to upload an avatar so I'm not really sure..

Okay, how about -- Did you try the "Save for Web" feature in Photoshop? That reduces the dpi to 72 and may optimize it in other ways, I'm not sure.

Does anybody else have suggestions? Would a particular file format be better?

Hi, bigtall:

Thanks for joining. No, not really. I've been referring to my 2ndappearance logo.

Although, that is a new thought. It might be a cute siggy. What do you think?
And if so, is what you put up the proper size, etc.?

Yes, that is the proper size to use as a avatar here - 80 X 80

If you are referring to

that will never work for an avatar --- it's just not the right shape. Not if you want I can take the purse or the shoes out of that logo and make that work for you.

nah, on second thought - after experimenting with the shoe --- it's don't look so good when I enlarge it to 80 X 80

Oh, it's good to know that it wasn't because I'm such a dummy, that I couldn't reduce it enough!

I see tha the image of the woman you have is 80X80. I just looked at my photobucket image and it says 100X75. I can't, or rather don't know how to change that. Couldn't erase it and type in other figures, and reducing it by 75% would make it too small.
