I've listened to both of their versions and they're very good but, I prefer Roberta's. Maybe it's my age but, I think you don't have to be fancy with your vocals or instuments to make a song good. It can take away from the words, meaning and feeling; not sure if I'm explaining it well. I think it's just my preference of singers, plus I can sing along with her better, LOL. |

roberta catches the feeling. celine's is very very good. leona's is not so great, although she is a pretty gal and all of her other songs are pretty good! hehe
watch celine's version. she has a soft and a bit raspy voice in this live show.

Listen to Gene McDaniels - Tower Of Strength version. It has an older R&B sound that I could see my mom who's famous for her mashed potato dance at family get togethers, enjoying it.

GENE McDaniels is the version I always heard and sang, lol.
FRANKIE VAUGHAN was the only one I could find on the net at the time of posting. |

I am Elvis fan BUT I like this song

Rubberneckin
(Words & music by Jones - Warren)
Stop! Look and listen baby, that's my philosophy.
It's called rubberneckin' baby, but that's alright with me.
Stop! Look and listen baby, that's my philosophy.
It's called rubberneckin' baby, but that's alright with me.
Stop! Look and listen baby, that's my philosophy.
It's called rubberneckin' baby, but that's alright with me.
Some people say I'm wastin' time, but they don't really know.
I like what I see, I see what I like yeah, it gives me such a glow.
First thing in the mornin', last thing at night.
I look, stare, everywhere, and I see everything in sight.
Stop! Look and listen baby, that's my philosophy.
It's called rubberneckin' baby, but that's alright with me.
People say I'm wasting time yeah, but I don't really care.
I see what I like, I like what I see yeah, it gives me such a glow.
Sittin' on the back porch, all by myself.
Along came Mary Jane, and with somebody else.
Stop, look and listen baby, that's my philosophy.
It's called rubberneckin' baby, that's alright with me.
Stop, look and listen baby, that's my philosophy.
It's called rubberneckin' baby, that's alright with me.
Stop! |

I just listened to these 2 versions and can say they are truly beautiful. From my earlier post you can see I don't normally listen to this type of music but, I will be saving these and looking for more of their kind. You have inspired me. |

For sure a goosebump song.
I love so many songs it is really hard to say which is my favorite. However, I do love the song Forever Young, sung by Joan C. Biaz.

It brings tears to my eyes. It chokes me up just to think of it. So, mushy I am at times.

Don't even get me started about being sensitive. When that movie Deep Impact came out, I was trying to describe the scene where people were holding up their children outside the military gates; begging those lucky ones on buses to take their children in. Anyway, I started crying trying to describe the scene to them and they laughed at me, LOL. Of course, I'm laughing too, at myself for being so overly emotional. But, even though I may blush I'm not embarrassed. It makes me who I am and I like me; crying at commercials, movies or whatever. |

Speaking of crying at commercials. Every time the commercial for the ASPCA comes on with Sarah McLaughlin singing I start tearing up and my 24 year old son usually looks like he's going to tear up too. That song really pulls at my heart strings. Just hearing her voice makes me tear up. Wow! now that's power.

My all time favorite song is "Unchained Melody".
I listen to just about everything, but at the moment, I have been into a Danish band called Outlandish. They are 2 arab men and a cuban man. Their songs just hit home and some of them are very political. They are hiphop and sing in both English, Spanish, Wooloff and I think Arabic. They also sing in Danish. They mix it together and it sounds pretty cool. There are some songs I don't understand the words to, but I really like it. My favorite song by them is "I'm calling you" and "Look into my eyes". |
