|
|
Hello, I have tried everything I see on the Admin. page to be able to search my sold items by the title. If there is a way to do that, please tell me how.
I can search by the buyer or the date or the order number but not by the title.
If there is no way to do this, I would like to make the suggestion to make transactions searchable by the listing title. That would be very helpful in a lot of ways.
If a buyer leaves feedback, I can see those titles but no others but most don't leave feedback.
The only way to see what sold is to open every single order (and there are many pages of them).
My solution so far is to never delete anything so I can still find it even though it is hidden, but other people still seem to be able to find them too and ask me if it is available even though it is hidden with 0 quantity. |

Way off topic but looked up your store. Had no idea people collected such things. Curious how you locate your inventory. |

This was my Father's personal collection and when he passed away, my Mother gave it to me to sell.
It's a huge collection and I've barely started. He got most of these through trade and buying them from trade partners or at conventions where collectors who are member of Rathkamp Matchcover Society get together and trade or sell or give some away.
But, yeah, people collect them for lots of reasons. For some, it's an advertisement for a family business. Some just collect from a certain state or city. |

Not ideal of course but the easiest way is just to search in your email. The ecrater dashboard is, always has, and I presume always will be limited and rather archaic next to modern organizational and filing methods. |

That is a good idea and I wish I had saved all my ecrater.com order emails but I have been deleting most of them. It would be easy enough though to create a folder in my email and move only ecrater orders there because the email subject line does at least show part of the title name in the part it lets me preview. Thanks |

That too is a good idea. I save all emails out of habit and paranoia but creating a specialized folder would probably make more sense. I'm guessing depending on your email client you can also pin that to the top of your email. |

Well, I've puzzled over this question and I can't find a way to search your sold items by title from the order page. If you know the title, the regular item search would bring up the item IF you haven't deleted the item page. Also, if you've haven't deleted any items, you can do a product search for just hidden items which will list all product titles, but it will not sort them by title.
I checked my orders export files (and even did a new one to check) and the titles are not exported with order information. Maybe the title field could be added to the export orders feature. Once exported, they could be opened in a spreadsheet that could be sorted by title.
I must confess, I had never tried searching my sold items by title. My curiosity is up as to why you would want to search your sold item by the title. Would you mind sharing the question that sent you on this hunt?
I noticed you have a category named SOLD. You might want to change that to a different name because from the customer's side it looks like you have no sold items. For example, I have a sold category also, but the customer sees a category called "XYZ & Special Request". The fact that the category appears blank doesn't look strange and it's at the bottom of the category list.
@dc .. How would searching your emails be quicker than opening each order to see the title? Maybe your email preview gives more info than mine, but I can't see the item purchased unless I open the email. |

@Sheila - If I'm looking for a sold item, I just search for a keyword in the title and every instance of it pops up in the search. This is for Gmail by the way. One of the few services of Google I've found to be very useful while remaining virtually untouched by its evil. This also works nicely to call up Paypal payments for comparing to the original ecrater Order (sometimes they differ and that's a problem for Paypal). |

SheilaDeesPostcards, I have been deleting them after a while because I keep getting messages from buyers that they want the item but can't buy it. I have to write them back and tell them it's been sold because from their end, it looks like it's just on hold and it might still be available. I've also been deleting my emails for orders. So there is no record of the item now. I can open each order from my order page and look at it and see the title, but that it is very time consuming and easy to lose your place. If I could search the orders, that would be so helpful.
The reason I want to be able to search titles is that I sell on other platforms (ebay and bonanza). And ebay only keeps records for 3 months but I also use auctiva to search ebay sold or unsold items. But if I sell an item on ecrater, it doesn't show up as sold on auctiva. So, unless I remember selling it on ecrater, I don't know if it's been sold or if it's just misplaced. And when a buyer asks about it, I have to go on a search and I'm working with well over 10,000 items right now so it's no easy task.
My "sold" category was an experiment that didn't work. I had to say there was an item still available to change the category and now I can't change it back to 0 quantity. Even though they are hidden, I still get views on them. So, I went in and edited each one to say Sold which I can't do to sold items unless I change the quantity to 1 available. (yeah, I need to change the name. I didn't think about it looking kinda bad to buyers). I also get views and questions on hidden, sold items with 0 Quantity.
Sorry, I missed your reply for over a month. I was actually creating the ecrater folder in my email and moving the messages I hadn't deleted there and saw the one telling me someone else had replied to my question. |

Sorry if my posts are wacky as I don't really know how to post on a forum. I tried looking up how to quote or not quote.
There is no simple reply button that I could find. |

The email idea works. I have created a folder just for ecrater emails. And I move them there. My email (hotmai) lets me search within an email so I can search the title there and find something I have sold if I need to.
Thank you, dccollectibles for the idea.
If only I had not been deleting them all the years I have been selling on ecrater... |
