I am having a problem. I can not figure out how to get a picture posted in the image area. I was able to get a banner up but thats it. Can someone tell me how to do this. Also I need a nice picture, and since I sell music can some- one help with a good picture. I would like something like musical notes. It would be nice to have them animated if we can do that. Thanks for any help you can give me. Bethel Island Books Very Happy

Hi Bethelbooks! If you enter your Admin area and look over to the left under texts and colors, you will see the option for color templates. Click that and whichever template you chose originally, just click on the picture and from there you upload a pic from your harddrive. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

ohhhhh graphic searching....one of my favorite things to do.

Google is the quickest and best I think (just my opinion of course)

Need a quiick fix/pic of something simply type in music pictures.

Click the link they give you for "GOOGLE IMAGES"...usually at least 10 plus pages for you to browse thumbnails.
It's nice that Google does the work for you.

I could link you to hundreds of graphics sites but then we wouldnt' hear from you for days LOL

Good Luck & Have Lots of Fun Picture Shopping !

Oh so cool, thanks. I would have to surface sooner or later. My kids wouldn't let me stay online that long to enjoy myself. LOL

Thanks for all the tips

Well, except that the results are likely to all be images copyrighted by someone else..

There must be some decent copyright-free image banks online but I don't know of any offhand.

ANY and ALL images online are open for anyone and everyone to use.

Copyrighted or not it does not matter.

In fact all the right click codes to keep others from using your pictures became null and void once "screen capping" came about.

As long as you are NOT using the images to make money they are fair game.

Unfortunately I know more then I care to admit about Image copyright on the Internet.

So just beware this goes for personal pictures as well...you, your children, your pets, etc.

Once an image is posted on the internet it is open season on it as long as no profit is to be made from it.

Using a picture for something as simple as help making a LOGO is more a compliment to the originator then a copyright issue.

Are there any copyright restrictions associated with the images?

The images identified by the Google Image Search service may be protected by copyrights. Although you can locate and access the images through our service, we cannot grant you any rights to use them for any purpose other than viewing them on the web. Accordingly, if you would like to use any images you have found through our service, we advise you to contact the site owner to obtain the requisite permissions.

I'm afraid you're mistaken, thisthat. The Internet may still be fairly unregulated and unpoliced but copyright laws are still in place.

Otherwise, why would eBay kill auctions that use stolen photos? Why would VERO be able to get auctions/sites shut down for using member companies' information?

Besides #1:
If someone uses an image for their store here they would in fact be using the image to make money.

Besides #2:
If what you say is true then when I'm browsing online and find, say, one of Auctiva's templates that means I'm free to use it as I please, yes?

Check the "User's Risks" section (very bottom) on this page:

Here's something else to look at:

2 years ago I had a personal website for out of state and out of country family and friends to keep up on myself and my childrens ongoings.

Personal pictures of myself AND my children were there as well as COPYRIGHTED poems I wrote.
The site addy was only given to my family.
Somehow someone got on my pages and took MY personal pictures.
They took a picture of me and posted it alongside a porn picture stating BOTH were me and somehow got my HOME phone #.
VERY graphic things were posted with my phone # basically stating call me and I would do certain things.
I have 4 small children...live ALONE...single mom here.
I went to the Police, made reports via the internet as I was instructed to do AND went to the NYC FBI headquarters in attempts of having all that removed.
I could not care less who this person was and why they did what they did. I cared that I had 4 small children in my home that were now put in danger.
NOTHING could be done to have my pictures AND my phone number removed.
I fought for almost a year trying to find a loop hole so that we could have the site shut down.
NOTHING could be done.
The only way I could press charges was if the person/people who made the website told me they would remove it if I PAID them.

You think you own your personal pictures, graphics etc but you don't.
You only have claim if a profit is to be made from them.
When you use a graphic for personal use such as LOGOs or whatever you are not making profit from it. You are simply DISPLAYING it.
Believe me this was NOT something I enjoyed going through but I did learn ALOT.
I won't even email pictures any longer.
There are NO laws that prohibit people from "borrowing/using" others picture/graphics online.
There are laws that prohibit people from accepting monies for others pictures/graphics.
You would think someone could have helped me when I went through that but not one soul could.
People from the FBI and local Police Precinct called me daily to see how I was holding up.
The person who made the website was not making any money from what they did to me. It was simply something they did for sh*ts and giggles.
I was not the first person they did it to nor was I the last.
We can go back and forth about this until we are blue in the face but facts are facts...the Internet is a VERY messy place to be and we have no rights and are NOT protected in any way UNLESS monies are requested.

*exhale*

So sorry to go on but as I previously posted this is something I know more then I care to know about it.
If you take something off the internet...template, graphics or whatever and dont get paid directly for it then you are not doing anything wrong.
Only thing copyright gets you is protection from others claiming ownership of it and keeping others from making money for it.
If you were to see the file I have of all the records from what transpired your chin would hit the floor.
We all have our own crosses to bare and thank goodness that was the worst for me and it is now in my past.

All I was trying to do was advise someone on how to get on Google and have some fun with graphics as I always do.
I don't see this forum as a place of competition or anything like that.
When I know something I offer what I know, that's all. No strings attached.
I'm not trying to steal anyones business or spotlight.
Just as I take in all I learn from all you I hope that maybe even just one person may learn even just one thing from me.

Thinking I'll take a day or so away from the forum and putting in my 2 cents.

Hope you all have a great sales weekend...SELL SELL SELL !

That's a terrible thing that happened to you, I know. But what you're saying about copyrights just isn't accurate. Read up on copyright law.

The police aren't going to be able to have a stolen picture removed from someone else's website but a lawyer specializing in copyright law would have a pretty good chance.

The fact (and, regardless of your personal experience, it is a fact) remains that copyright law is in place. It's against the law to use images and graphics that someone else owns, especially for your own financial gain (advertising your store).

I had a different logo for about 4 years. Then one day out of the clear blue I got an email saying HEY YOU CAN"T USE THAT IT"S MINE> I replied witha short email that said prove it - since I knew I got the image off the web from a site that claimed the clip art was copyright free and could be used. I then searched the net and couldn't find it anywhere but 4 years had past so it didn't surprise me.

A few weeks later I received a letter from the guys lawyer with a cease and desist order along with a copy of the graphis. Which still didn't prove anything to me, after all I been using it for 4+ years! Who was to say he didn't steal it from me! Besides his wasn't 100% like mine, there were slight differences.

BUT the important thing is that YES images, even personal ones have or can have a copyright.
BUT it's a civil matter and not something the police or FBI get involved in.
