The best voice I've ever heard is/was Pavarotti. I don't understand a word he sang but the timbre of his voice gets me every time he's played on the radio or I hear one of the 3 tenor programs on PBS. It goes beyond music and is more a deep spiritual experience. I think it is that the vibrations of his voice are akin to meditation or other altered state experience. I feel totally renewed after I hear him.

For more current, I like Diana Krall.

Enya and Clannad. I had not heard of Clannad until a friend told me if I liked Enya, I should also listen to Clannad. (I still don't know if that is the name of a single person or a group). Either way, their music is absolutely beautiful... haunting and etheric.

I'm not a classical music kind of gal. I love R&B, funk, ballads and 80's; my era. To name a few of my favorite songs: Roberta Flack's, The First Time Ever Saw Your Face; Rod Stewart's Aucustic, Reason to Believe and the Stylistics, You Are Everything. There's so much emotion and feeling in the words and how they sing them. I guess I'm a romantic at heart by looking at these songs but, I love some good dance music too.

You are older than you think. That is a mid 70s song. I remember the man of that hour and where I was the first time I heard it.

Listen to Roberta Flack's and see what you think. Everytime I hear it, it gives me chills. Most of us have had a relationship like this, such feelings. I just love it. Not sure if I did the link right, sorry.

ONE of my favorite songs is
TOWER OF STRENGTH - FRANKIE VAUGHAN - 07/12/1961
3 weeks at #1 - 13 weeks on chart

Of course my favorite part to sing (LOL, if you can call it that)
well, lol it was the hole song! Oh and I could seeling it with such power and feeling, LMAO!

If I were a tower of strength, I'd walk away
I'd look in your eyes and here's what I'd say
I don't want you, I don't need you, I don't love you any more
And I'd walk out the door
You'd be down on your knees
You'd be calling to me
But a tower of strength is a-something
I'll never be

If I were a tower of strength, I'd watch you cry
I'd laugh at your tears and tell you goodbye
I don't want you, I don't need you, I don't love you any more
And I'd walk out the door
You'd be down on your knees
You'd be calling to me
But a tower of strength is a-something
I'll never be

No I don't want you, I don't need you, I don't love you any more
And I'd walk out the door
You'd be down on your knees, yeah
You'd be calling to me
But a tower of strength is a-something
I'll never be
Well a tower of strength is a-something
I'll never be

I still have this on a 45!

Hey, BTMC. Loved the words to the song so I went to YouTube to hear it. Good song. I could see me singing it after a couple of drinks and with lots of attitude, LOL. Listen to Gene McDaniels - Tower Of Strength version. It has an older R&B sound that I could see my mom who's famous for her mashed potato dance at family get togethers, enjoying it. Very Happy

BTMC, that song has a cute beat to it!
the youtube screening of it shows a GREASE (?) movie clip and a black and white movie clip as well. who is that actress in the b & w clip, she looks so familiar?
